They were at least an average to good 5A school in the 80,90s,2010s. OCS blows them out. They got the brakes beat off them by Ruston. There always seemed to be a lot of talent in that area. How does a small private school beat a team like Ouachita? I’ll admit, I graduated from Byrd in the early 90s, but still keep up with north La HS football. Never expected to see Ouachita go downhill that bad

Eta: In the 80s were 4A

Vallery left for Kilgore after the 94 football season. This was the first and most impactful domino to fall.

Richwood High opened in 96/97ish that took a good bit of talent. Sterlington High opened several years later.

I get that, but there’s no way even in say 2009-10ish time period a small private school like OCS should be able to beat them. They usually even play Ruston close. I would have thought 5 years ago OPHS vs OCS was criminal

Sterlington has been around way before that. This year Ouachita lost their starting QB to acl injury. They’ve been starting a freshmen for the last 5 or 6 weeks.

I'll never forget my JR year in HS in 2009 us Westbank baws from West Jeff going up to Ouachita HS, who none of us ever heard of, and getting our shite kicked in physically.

Our inner city Westbank black kids were confused as frick at these big arse black dudes from Monroe speaking in country arse accents

Correct. My apologies for the confusion. I meant to say the NEW Sterlington after the flight north out of Monroe.

I attended OPHS when the seniors put the goats on the roof and oil soaked pig in the elevator May of 93. All of my family still resides in
North Monroe/ Sterlington.

I did not realize they had a freshman QB this year.

To be fair most Westbankers have never left the Westbank.

I have 2 theories.

1. Toxic fumes from the nearby landills are affecting the athletes conditioning.

2. Everything in that part of Ouachita parish has started going to shite ever since Ray's PeeJees burned down.

No… Richwood reopen in 01(had previously closed in 88)… Ouachita doesn’t get the kids from the Tanglewood, Pine Bayou, and south Burg Jones Lane areas anymore… which actually never made sense in the first place because Wossman no more than a 10 minute ride from all these areas… Neville is still zoned to get kids from the Robinson Place/ Trishshell area even though that’s the farthest south you can go in Monroe(Neville is in North Monroe)… Neville also is zoned to get kids right down the street from Carroll… Ouachita just doesn’t have the same pull to be able to cheat in the Parish
