100% true too.

You can tell you haven't by what you are typing. It shows pretty clearly.

quote:

So did they throw in the towel or not? You're waffling.

huh? because they punted on offense, that means they have to stop playing on defense?

i dont get your point. Expecting them to run the clock out doesnt mean you have given up. I think they were expecting WM to eat the clock either by running or kneeling.

quote:

Classless to bash 16-year olds for playing football? Yes. You're getting pwn3d.

who is bashing 16 year olds???

obviously that is a coaching decision. I dont think the sophmore QB was out there calling plays. Again, have you ever played real football?

I sat the bench for West Monroe basketball. I got put in a game with 2 minutes left; we were playing Caldwell Parish. We were up by about 30. I jacked up two wide-open 3's and made them. Classless?

Absolutely not. In fact, the opposing coach shook my hand and said I had a good-looking shot.

Your sissy-arse argument is 100% lame.

The game is 4 quarters long, 12 minutes each. You play all 48 minutes of the game.

quote:

Hey 2nd string, we'd let you in and see if you can score since you've worked hard all year and deserve to get your name in the paper, but Rummel isn't having any fun right now so let's not do it

quote:

If Rummel can't play hard for 48, why are they there?

quote:

.Damn you are on the field to play football. You play til the clock says 0000 on it. I guess they should put the cheerleadrs on the field instead on the young men.If rummel gave up at the end of the game that is on them. So quit crying bout WM scoring late. Just play football and quit all the crying....

It's every cliche in the book. I understand to play the whole game (til the last second) and if you don't want them to score then stop them but you all sound like Junior High School football coaches. Anyone who watches sports knows there is an unwritten rule about this. Why was there such drama about USC/Stanford and USC scoring last second against UCLA? Because there is an issue about running up the score.

Lester Earl said it was classless and then everyone gave there Pee Wee football speech about playing until last second and it was Rummel's fault about not stopping them. I know this is a man's game but think West Monroe could of went without that.

eta: Not going to sit here and cry about it either but can't believe you all don't even see the argument.

Each of these instances involved starters. WM's scrubs were in.

There's nothing wrong with saying, "My players play hard 100% of the time. I may pull my starters when we've got the game in hand, but we're still trying to score."

Anybody who ever whines about running up the score is being a baby. I've had it run on me more than the other way around, and it's really no big deal.

ahhh, i didnt know u were a WM guy. That explains a lot.

I think most unbiased football fans can see the problem with that call at that point in time during the game.

I dont expect WM fans to see anything wrong with it. Yall were prob raised that way.

i tell you what, point out the next time a coach does that at any level with that much time on the clock(under 2:00) up by that much(up 23)

you wont find many that do something like AT THE PRO LEVEL much like a high school game. But hey, Don Shows can do it and get away with it.

There's nothing to get away with. It's none of your business how he wants to coach.

Im not being sensitive, ive just watched a lot of football and you dont see coaches and players that are being PAID to play do shite like that.

im a Rummel alum, but i really have to vested interest in the game. I just wanted to see a good game.

That caught my eye. I call a spade a spade, and had Rummel been up 23-0 and did the same thing, i would have made the same observation. Roth wouldnt do something like that, im 100% positive in saying that.

I guess the HIGH SCHOOL football scoach, Lou Valdin from Hahnville, a coach who has won a 5A title recently, is a baby for saying there is no excuse for WM to score at the end. Or EJ's coach who questioned the score?

both were on 870 during the game saying it was classless

I was listening to the broadcast and disagreed with him. I question whether he knew that the starters had been pulled.

and my argument is lame?

who cares if the starters weren't in? I dont see the point of that.

in that case they are happy to just get on the field. Run the ball, you are about to win the state championship

if you need to score a meaningless TD to fulfill your season or the game, then i feel sorry for you and your coach.

No big deal, just disagreeing with the score at the end. 23-0, 30-0, it doesn't really matter, its an arse whooping.

I would just hope a HS coach would be teaching his players to win with class and not call a play that will be disputed (like it is now) and somewhat tarnish a 5A state title that a bunch of kids worked their arse off for.

WM's 2nd string players aren't as good as WM's starters. Shows intentionally benched his best players in lieu of players who weren't as good so as not to humiliate Rummel. Is it Shows' fault that WM's 2nd string is better than Rummel's starters?

Agreed 100%. So why bash the coach for making it 30-0 instead of 23-0? It rewarded the 2nd string for their hard work all season.

There's nothing tarnished about the state title. It was the least-penalized game of the 5 in the superdome, and both teams played hard and cleanly.

Guys all over the radio questioning the move, people here talking about it... both are huge outlets for HS football fans to listen and talk about the game.

I would say a lot of people are talking about it instead of a great performance by WM, or Rummel's run to the title, etc.
