In my experience, your league is making the commissioner work harder. We have enough trouble keeping someone in the commish position (because no one wants to spend the time), so I'm in favor of whatever makes it easier for him. In my own experience (I serve as commissioner when the commish is out of town), having the trade requests in makes it really easy.

i disagree 100%....in a league that works with time limits, the commish doesn't have anything to do except check times of transactions

how does going through a list and granting requests and appointing secondary requests make anything easier than simply double checking times of transactions?

Whenever the commish has time, he goes down the list and accepts the trades in order and reject the trades that can't be filled. Takes five minutes and he's done. Checking up on transaction times must require some time by the computer. Our commissioner likes to get out of the house, so I'm sure that would not work for him.

how long do you think it takes to look down a list?

are you confused as to what is actually being done?

of course it does....so does accepting or rejecting requests and granting alternate requests....by not having to reject, grant or grant secondary proposals, i can't see how your system takes less time

I guess I don't understand what he's doing. When you say checking up on transaction times, what does that mean?

let me explain it because you seem confused

from 9:00 on tuesday till 12:00 on tuesday team 1 can make FA acquisitions.

from 12:01-3:00 team 2 can make FA acquisitions including having first dibbs on dropped players from team 1

from 3:00-6:00 team 3 can make FA can make FA acquisitions including having first dibbs on dropped players from team 2

from 6:01-9:00 team 4 can make FA acquisitions including having first dibbs on dropped players from team 3

FROM 9:01-12:00 midnight team 5 can make FA acquisitions including having first dibbs on dropped players from team 4

MOVE TO WEDNESDAY AND REPAET PROCESS FOR TEAMS 6-10

MOVE TO THURSDAY AND REPEAT PROCESS FOR TEAMS 11 & 12. then from 3:00 on thrusday till kickoff of first game all teams are open to pick up whomever is available freely at a first come first serve basis

the only job of the commish to to make sure teams are signing FA's in the appropriate time slot and if a transaction is performed out of order their pick is taken from them and they lose their time slot

not saying it is a better way of working the waiver wire (b/c i don't think it is), just saying it is actually the easiest way on the commish from a time and effort standpoint. he actually has veryy little to do b/c most players police the situation and know what is going on...which is why we work it this way

Okay, I get it. But I would think that it would be unfair to let Team 1 make as many changes as it wanted first. What I mean is that, in our league, Team 1 gets one shot, then moves to the back of the list.

like i said..it isn't the best way to do it...just easy on the commish

and yeah. team 1 (whoever it is that week) can pick up whoever they want, BUT they do have to drop a player for every one they pick up and everyone gets a shot at being team 1 at some point in the season

what time do you set that all requests have to be in? what is the deadline?

Thursday at noon. I would also think that that's a better time as it usually takes a day or two to figure out all the changes from one week to the next.

I am guessing that this means that you're using a randomly set pick up order that rotates each week? I was in favor of using the worst-team-first method, but our league abandoned it last year and went with the current system.

yes. whoever drafted 12th in the draft would get the first week and so on...thinking of going to worst team first method next year too

what i don't know i would like about requests is not knowing what happens ahead of you....for example. how could i put in a request to pick someone up before i know who was dropped? and i don't know who i would want to drop until i know who i am picking up

in time i'm sure it would make sense to me and i know there are different ways of doing it so i am always curious

This is not an issue with our league because we do not allow players to be picked up the week they are dropped. If we did, there could be collusion between teams who pick up one after the other. There is a lot of distrust in our league because of a cheater we had a decade or so ago. No one can forget him, so we design the rules to keep anything from even looking like there's a possibility of collusion.

NEED SOME HELP GUYS!!

Just traded Palmer for T. Gonzalez. Another guy in the league has a fricking shite fit saying the trade wasn't fair cuz "palmer is a fig and only had 1 good game" Both parties knew about palmers elbow, but they've been saying it wasn't bad and he was most likely starting this weekend.

Nobody knew this LINK
should this void the trade? what if i void it and everything turns out fine? HELP!!! cuz i'm bout to boot this fricker out the league, throws a fit everytime a good team makes a trade and gets better no matter if it helps the other team too

Wouldn't you know it. I dropped Bulger last week and picked up Orton. Now this:
quote:

Steve Wyche, of NFL.com, reports St. Louis Rams QB Marc Bulger has been named the team's starting quarterback for the rest of the season, according to head coach Jim Haslett.
