Does anyone else in here have trouble hitting long irons straight? Went to the range and my wedges,8, and 9 iron are high and fall a little to the right but almost perfectly straight. As the iron gets longer and delofted my ball flight is lower and the slice is more and more exaggerated. I've always used the same swing and hit down on the ball for all my irons. Should I change my swing up for the longer irons? Need to figure this out if I'm gunna keep trying to play the tips

no, no one
they are the easiest clubs in the bag to hit

Yes that is how I hit my irons. A fade on an Iron is the best way to hit them. It makes them land softer. I have fought the hard fade on long ironns for years. Now, I place the ball farther up in the stance like a driver and make sure to swing through the shot. It has fixed everything. Now, I love my 4i.

I've tried this with the same slicing issue. Feel stupid aiming way left on long iron shots. Also losing distance. My 5 iron was going as far as my 7 iron

Shot 82 (39-43) @ Copper Mill today, didn't putt worth a damn
The greens were shaggy
They cut the fringe and just left the clippings marinating

That's terrible. Good to know.
82's a good round.

What hole/s got you on the back or was it just putting?

Shot 83 at peninsula today. Was going to play at Kiva but they sanded the greens.
Hole #7 that is back by the bay is a damn beautiful hole....forgotten how nice that hole is.

#11 Par 3, went short right off the tee and my chip got caught up in the grass clippings on the fringe, needed a passport for my putt. Double bogey
#12 Par 5, pulled my tee shot in those trees short left, had to lay up w/ 9i. Left me ~205 in, hit bad shot. Bogie

I hate #12. That damn hole has cost me more strokes then any hole out there. Im going to start playing iron off the tee

I hit it two weeks ago and liked it more the second time around. I cant hit it well off the deck though. Does its job, keeps them straight off the tee.

Forgot to report after the weekend. Played Magnolia Grove Crossings in Mobile. Shot 4 over on the first hole and still managed to salvage the round with an 84.
