I mean it's Franklin, so it could be 1-2 or could be 5. He could absolutely lose to Clemson and SMU back to back on the road. @Miami would be tough for anyone in the country with who they have.

I will call those 3 losses, and then Virginia a toss up in rivalry game.

If they go 8-4 or 9-3 that's still a good year for them

That was a unique set of circumstances that got them in. The ACC champ was 8-5 who wasn't going to be put in the CFP ahead of multiple 2 loss teams. The ultimate debate came down to 10-2 Miami v. 10-2 ND. The deciding factor was Miami beat ND head to head.

This year Virginia Tech's big non-conf. win is Maryland, a team that won't be in the CFP hunt (like ND last season). Without that OOC win and without a ACC championship it's hard to see them getting in over other 2 loss teams from other conferences.
