If the Big 12 lost a North team like CU, and replaced them with TCU, I think it would be much more likely that TCU would just fill the vacant spot in the North and the current scheduling scheme would remain rather than shifting an Oklahoma team to the North and having to redo the scheduling to maintain the OU/OSU or TX/OU rivalries.

TCU will never be in the big 12 as long as Texas is still in it.

All these rumors about mizzou to the big 10 and CU to the pac10 is doing one thing.

Texas will not be in the big 12 within 5 years. Bellmont has already watched a conf dissolve once and get left in the dust. they will not allow that to happen again.

Will never happen. No way the "North" teams give up an annual trip to LA. Look at Oregon/Oregon State/Washington's roster sometime. They can't do it without SoCal recruits.

I like those conferences, especially the idea of keeping all of the California and Texas teams in the same separate divisions.

The Big XII South is like a mini version of the SWC while the Big XII North is most of the old Big 8. Plus the the divisions will be more balanced. Texas and Okla playing twice a year would be awesome. And they should be able to play one another in the Big XII CG because they're almost always the best two teams in the conference.

The one I'd change is the Big 10. I wouldn't put their three best historical programs in the same division. I would move PSU to the opposite division of UM and OSU so they could face off in CGs. Geographic accuracy isn't that important anyway.

you may like it, but it will never happen. the big 12 south (texas powers) will never allow it to become another swc

So the teams who might bitch about it are the current Texas teams. None of them having leverage as they aren't going anywhere if they don't get their way. The non texas schools would like it and I think UT would probably like it as OU and OSU would switch divisons. UT has no reason to believe they can't continue dominance in Texas.

There are two teams in southern cali and northern cali, I am sure they could work it so they could get a trip to each region here and there. They recruit LA and the Frisco bay area the most.

That will definately be a concern of theirs but I wonder how much affect it would really have.

First you really do not know much about the big 12 politics do you? North teams hate the power held by the Texas schools. They do not want more teams.

Second. Texas is already saturated by the big 12. Any more teams would just slice the pie into smaller parts.

Third. You really do not thing the University of Texas has any leverage? Do you really not think that if we openly asked the big 10 or pac 10 would refuse to accept us?

Fourth. Texas refuses to play UH in any sport after "bleacher gate". Do you really think they would allow them into the big 12?

Fifth. Do you think Texas or OU would allow the RRS to be a non yearly event? No way in hell would they split not play each other every year. One being in the big 12 north and one being in the big 12 south would do just that.

LSU plays Florida every year, I am sure you know they aren't in the same divisions. They could still keep the rivalry, do you think the television networks want to see that game go bye bye? They want to make money, they would keep that rivalry without question. I don't know about your other stated reasons but it seems logical I guess. I really don't know.

Houston would have to either build a new stadium or renovate and expand Robertson before they enter the Big XII, which is in the plans already. They could also play in Reliant.

Then, there would be plenty of room for fat Mexican/Texas State/SFA/UTSA/SHSU grad T-shirt Texas fans.

if La tech can afford it, I am pretty sure the richest athletic department in the country can somehow swing it. Especially if they get the 10 mil a year bump that would happen if they join the big 10. (the difference in big 12 vs big 10 tv $$ per team, without out the state of Texas in the tv contracts I might add)

Speaking of money and resources, why would Texas be concerned about slicing the pie? Do you really think TCU and Houston would steal a ton of recruits from UT? I doubt it.

Maybe Houston could keep a kid or two at home. Only A&M should be able to go against UT head to head in state for most recruits, but that hasn't happened in over a decade.
