this is actually some really good news. good chance for usa to see how they stack up. we arent good enough to win a tourney like this anyways and we wouldnt play teams like this unless they were in our group. im psyched.

yeah, i'm glad we get to test ourselves against high competition like this.
Egypt is no slouch either. To win the ANC is a hell of an accomplishment

But some of those teams dont bring their first team squads. They bring a mix of U-21 people and some vets.

Anyone wanna take a shot at the roster we take to the WC?

WC is a long way away.
Depends on who is on form at the time. I would take a lesser known player who is tearing it up a world class player who has been blowing for a few months.

it's too early to tell. you have to count on some of the younger players being there, but it's difficult to determine which players will develop favorably. you can reasonably count on our core players being there barring any kind of extraneous factor (injury, etc)
this is a tough group. i think you can count on egypt bringing it's first choice squad with brazil and, to a lesser extent, italy bringing a mixture of established stars and younger players. however, both of those teams will be very competitive.
it will be a good experience for our players in a similar environment to the world cup. i'm glad we decided to focus our energies on the '07 GC
