Serena needs to retire. She can't move anymore. She's done winning slams
Maybe....maybe not. She could definitely still win one. Whether she does or not will depend on a number of factors, with pure luck of the draw being one of them.

Feel like Azarenka deserves another slam, so wouldn’t mind seeing her win Saturday.
Azarenka just seems like a cool chick. I've always rooted for her.
I didn't use to think she was hot, but now I do. Well..not classically pretty, but someone with whom I would enjoy going h2h against in a spirited game of "just the tip".*

What does he do that makes him exciting that Thiem doesn't do?
Hit shotmaking is more creative and of the attacking variety.

MV Prediction:
Alex over Busta
Thiem over Med
Thiem over Alex.

Thiem over Alex.

She needs to get in shape. It was easier for her to last two weeks when she was young out of shape. Now that she is older, her fat arse just cant make it two weeks. She was lazy and slow just like she has been for a while. She is not putting her best effort.
The Drama, limping, crying about her ankle and trying to talk while Azarenka is serving is just typical Serena. Nothing new here.
Thank you Victoria for outing her arse. I think Osaka wins. She is playing very well right now but I will pull for Victoria due to her contribution to this 2020 Open

What a croc of shite this “injury” is. Are you fing kidding me??? Come on.
This is not merely directed to Sport Wood, but to everyone in the string of like 10 consecutive posts all stating outright that Serena was faking an ankle injury.
Stop! I know y'all don't like her, but be principled and reasonable in your criticisms. For the sake of your own credibility, if nothing else.
Serena is one of the fiercest competitors ever, a statement that she regularly fakes injuries when she gets behind in a match is pure fiction, and any reasons to believe she was faking a problem with her ankle exist only in your own heads.

Yes, she needs to get in better shape. She lives a life of luxury now, which makes it a hell of a lot tougher to get out of bed and into the gym. But if she wants to get the final one, it would behoove her to do so.

I didn't watch this match live, so I can't speak to her talking while Vika was serving, but with regard to ankle, see above post.

I was for Vika today, and I'm for Vika in the final. And, as previously noted, I'm for a little game of "just the tip" with Vika, if said opportunity was presented.

Yeah that was a bit absurd. And when the injury happened, there was no reason to fake it. It was 40-40 and either 0-1 or 1-1 I think. People will find any reason to hate Serena (and there were some in the latter part of this match) but that wasn’t one.
Osaka takes it easily in two sets though. 6-2, 6-3. I’ll be rooting for Vika though because that LMFAO guy used to be in her box

If you think back, Serena has never been in top shape. Not really. Either she was doping or she is just some kind of freak genetics. She was always 20-30 pounds overweight. It makes you wonder if she would have been in top shape for most of her career, what she could have accomplished.
I am a fat arse and her thighs are bigger than my waist right now. That should be pretty embarrassing for her since she is a professional athlete. The fact that she is trying to play as hard as she is and being out of shape like that is begging for a major injury.
When you get older, it is way more easier to have injuries and being out of shape like that is not good for her. Her and Venus both look like they are sitting on the couch all day, snacking and watching soaps

Looks like Serena had some people rustled last night. When I saw Vika got up 4-3 in the second, I did think if she could just get it to a third and make the match about fitness, she could win. That said, Serena apparently did a lot to get in shape. This is just what it looks like. She is not in her mid-20's.
Great run for Vika. She hadn't won a tour match in a year, got throttled by Venus in Lexington, then wins Cincy and makes the finals in NYC. I think Osaka wins tomorrow, though.

She's fluctuated. She's definitely won a few majors while fat, but at her very peak she was in pretty damn good shape. The year she won the olympics in London, for example. She was definitely in good shape then.

I can't say I agree with this. She's a big girl naturally.
Even in her very early playing days -- when an argument that she was overweight would have been complete nonsense -- she had massive thighs. Those ain't going anywhere. Period.

But what are your thoughts on playing a game of "just the tip" with Vika? I mean, let's focus on the important issues here, bro.

I don't follow the women's game so much, but I'm a little surprised to see such a strong consensus for Osaka.
Is Osaka really *that* good?

And this is why she'll continue to get away with it. There will always be people to hyperanalyze it and conclude that every action necessarily occurs only at the very time where it is most logical, and since this one didn't, it must have been true injury. Despite her history doing regularly under the same circumstances for 20 years, and despite your own eyes not seeing the slightest hint of abnormal movement on super slow motion.
She drama-queened an injury last night just like she has many times in the past. Absent or flimsy reasoning can retro justify even the obvious.

Not actually true.
At all.

Yeah she’s playing great tennis. IMO the semi between her and Brady was more like a final. It was a very fun match to watch. Vika is playing well but nothing she did last night was overly impressive to me.

Tried to get my fix and put a bet on Busta today at MGM Detroit. But, there was no tennis betting today. I'm rooting for Alex and to keep his head together in the final. I have no strong feeling about the second match other than Thiem probably wants it to go five hours to wear down Medvedev.
