Under Armor is the broke dumpster fire

seems both UA and UCLA are broke

quote:

“Under Armour has recently made the difficult decision to discontinue our partnership with UCLA, as we have been paying for marketing benefits that we have not received for an extended time period. The agreement allows us to terminate in such an event and we are exercising that right,” Under Armour officials said in a statement Saturday.

quote:

But not long after, Under Armour’s sales faltered and the company has been retrenching in the past few years, only to see sales plummet again amid the coronavirus-related economic slowdown.

Kuehl was ousted by the company in late 2018 amid a review of corporate spending at events, on nights out and on gifts to athletes.

Since its sales and profitability slumped, Under Armour has been reorganizing, cutting costs, including laying off workers, and attempting to rediscover its mojo with little apparent success.

quote:

Any loss of revenue would be doubly devastating to a UCLA athletic department already facing a massive budget deficit even before the COVID-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of spring sports and endangered the fall sports calendar.

The department took on an interest-bearing loan from the university to cover an $18.9-million shortfall for the 2019 fiscal year and is expected to go further into the red in 2020.

Why do people want to make LA happen so bad

Its a terrible city with terrible people everywhere

There is nothing enjoyable or fun about LA and there is nothing enjoyable or fun about being around it

Just because there are 17 million shitty people in a space of shite does not make it happen

UCLA has 25 varsity sports teams. It’s impossible for their Athletic Department to be self sustaining without their football and basketball teams making huge profits.

UA’s $18-20M a year helped close some of that gap, but I expect UCLA to start dropping programs very soon.

Whoever signed that deal in the first place for UA should be fired. UCLA has not had a fan base in forever.

Probably why UA is struggling

They are so rare and so sweet. You have to send them to the “El Gaucho Archives of Trolling” to verify its authenticity. But when they come back as real it’s the best.

It's a money pit. Title IX orgy.

It's why 3 schools (not a Conference) have more National Titles than any Conference besides the Pac combined.

USC, UCLA and Stanford.

But what does that get you? Not revenue. Just bragging rights.

Perhaps Alabama is right. Just put all your resources into one sport...the sport that makes money.

But the Pac-12 fell for Title IX hook line and sinker and decided to compete in every sport and it bit them in the arse. They can hang NCAA Championship plaques all they want but that goal will always leave you bankrupt.
