f a fighter is clearly down two rounds in a three round fight, they are going to swing for the fences trying to get a finish in the final round.

I’m talking about the fighter that knows they are up. Currently fighters don’t know so the expectation now is that they should be going after it to keep it out of the judges hands.

I think tj vs yan is a great fight. Both guys tough and great striking, although different backgrounds.

I can see where TJ may be able to find more success with his striking against someone his height, as opposed to Sandhagen. Yan has good strike defense though (but not as good as TJ with the movement). Yan is much more formidable in the clinch and his boxing than Sandhagen. And he hits harder than everyone.

They're both Muay Thai guys, only Yan more traditional training in Thailand. Don't think he'll have any problems with TJ's wrestling either and has 90% take down defense. A higher takedown accuracy than TJ too. Younger, more powerful and accurate striker.

we just see TJ guy out a win with a strong fight mentally with all the pressure and then fighting smart with a knee and a bad cut. Then on the other hand yan makes a bonehead mistake that a top level fighter can’t make in the ring.

Good point and I still can't believe Yan did that. Takes confidence to come in and beat a top ranked, much younger fighter from a two year suspension. But he looked good, not great IMO. Yan looks great.

All good takes. I also think tj looked a little rusty in a sense but he was fighting an extremely tall guy. That makes it hard to connect on the head and also takedowns. Not to mention he was backing up the whole damn fight. Throw in the knee injury also. Hopefully yan dispatches sterling and we can see the fight. I think they stand and bang to be honest, I don’t think either guy comes in with a wrestling gameplan.

That’s one thing I’d love to know, win % of guys that have like 4-5 inches on their opponents.

That fight seemed reminiscent of TJ’s first fight with Dominick aside from the cut over the eye. I didn’t like TJ had to chase him the whole fight either.
Ring control has to count for something. That fight felt like if TJ didn’t press no punches would ever get thrown. Close fight. You can argue either way.
I will always like the aggressor.

I still mostly go by Harold Lederman's criteria.

Clean punching
Effective aggressiveness
Ring generalship
Defense

If everyone agreed it wouldn’t be no fun.
