In all seriousness, Penn has a bit of a screw loose. Once you get past it, he is pretty easy to root for IMO.

meh, I never really base my decision to root for a fighter with regards to their nationality.
I feel it is more appropriate to adjudge based on other criteria, albeit, I have done this a few times before when I knew nothing about the two fighters involved in a particular bout....more so, due to the people I watch fights with, usually end up making silly bets, therefore you have to choose.

and that frick yourself comment shows no class...but I guess if I like Penn more, I would have thought it was funnier

GSP's manager has said some stuff about BJ, which prompted it. GSP has tried to talk trash before but it never came accross well because of his Franglish.

GSP needs to just go the Randy Couture route with the trash talk altogether. You know that is closer to his personality and when he tries to talk smack it just doesn't work anyway.

LINK

BJ asks GSP late in the conference call if he has psychological issues since he needs to see a sports psychologist

I was thinking about this last night, because in a short 13 months, Byrd has won an NCAA Nat. Championship, and is now taking a nice trip to the Superbowl

I'm assuming this person thinks Early Doucet and Byrd are the same person?

2nd worst attempt at trash talk ever, after Wandy saying "I want to frick Chuck."

I usually wouldn't root for a Canadian, much less a French Canadian but I couldn't help to start liking GSP, even though I didn't want to. Now that I'm a fan, I can laugh at all his shenanigans. If I didn't already like him, it'd be hard to start after seeing the UFC Primetime. Penn's easily my 1B to GSP's 1A, but I'm rooting for GSP and I'd like the possibility of seeing him face Silva at 185.

I really do like GSP also, just not as much as BJ Penn.

BJ is supposed to be on Jim Rome in the next hour or so per sherdog if anyone can find an online link since 1210 is all local all the time

BJ relaxed trash-talking must've stemmed from years of island bad-boys giving the rich, pudgy kit shite on the streets of Hilo.

I don't see how anyone can root against this

Random Question: Why is there a 265 lb weight limit on HWs?

same reason there is a 205 lbs limit on LHW's.

There is a super heavyweight class for 265+(unlimited), just the UFC doesn't have that class. There are very, very few sHW's worth watching. Most are freak shows.

The Lesnar-Couture size difference wasn't big enough for you?

I would think that having an elite fighter like Randy Couture fighting some 405 pound fat slob that fell on top of him and got a win would not be very good for the sport.
