Lesnar is NOT a finisher... at all.

He is a control fighter

He was a control fighter in his 2nd fight because Mir submitted him. You may be right that he trys to simply control Couture, but I still think he may try to finish him if he hurts him.

Trying isn't the same as doing.

He looks like a finisher and he looks dumb as rocks, so looks aren't always deceiving. We'll see tomorrow.

Clay guida trys his arse off to finish guys, but ask any 155er in the UFC what they think of fighting clay...they will tell you he is relentless, and a tough fight from start to finish, but they always have a shot because he isnt a finisher, and gives you ample time to try to come back on him

+1

He's really not but he will aggrevate the shite out of someone for the entire 3 rounds though.

With the size of Lesnar's hands and the power he generates, he obviously has the tools and ability along with the aggressiveness to finish. Since we are only two fights into his MMA career, time will tell. Against Mir, he tried to finish and got caught. He corrected the mistake and was patient against Herring. Maybe overly patient as that fight did not have to go the distance IMO. We will see tomorrow night and as his career goes along.

Lesnar creates all kinds of problems for Couture. Just as good a wrestler (or close) and much bigger and heavier. I think Couture is gonna have to rely on dirty boxing and his clinch and avoid the takedown (which may be impossible) to have a shot. I just don't see it. Two fighters with a similiar background and one is much bigger stronger and probably just as fast (which is just insane).

Why they keep unlinking this thread PBT? We are less than 24 hrs from the fight? I knew last Sunday was a bit much, but damn why take it back down now when they just put it back up?

Brock either will catch something in the early bull charge or lay on Randy virtually every round. Randy is too smart to take a ton of shots off of Brock, so that is why I'm taking Lesnar with the decision.

Ditto. I wish I knew more about the actual application of BJJ. I really only know what I see from the fights. As big and strong as Lesnar is, I bet there have to be some submissions he really is MORE prone to losing by then the average fighter due to inflexibility. I just don't know what that would be.

I don't know. It is kind of B.S. if you ask me.

Mir isn't all that great or anything, but he is a pretty decent level BJJ guy. Those type of guys are going to be a huge danger for Lesnar for a while. I think Big Nog is probably Brock's worst match up right now. If Dana had set it up where Brock fights Big Nog and Randy fights Mir, I think you would have the Randy vs Nog matchup that a lot of the more hardcore fans would like to see. The way it is set up now, both those guys could lose their current matchups and Randy is a bit of an underdog.

Ahh, yes. Clay's popular "kill you by koala bear" style. I for one hate watching him fight because of that. I wanted to throw something at my TV when he fought Danzig.

Off to the game. Catch up with you boys when I get back.

Pros pick:

LINK

quote:

Mac Danzig: I think Randy wins this fight with experience and overall ability. It seems like Lesnar’s best chance of winning is if he can hold someone [down] for three rounds like he did to [Heath] Herring. I don’t think he can do that to Randy. Plus, he has a giant penis tattooed on his chest, which can’t be helpful.

quote:

Din Thomas: I think Randy’s got his hands full. Most fight fans don’t want to give Lesnar his props because they see him as a WWE guy. Not me. I see a college wrestling national champ, a big one, a really big one. I trained with a national champ in Ben Askren, and he played with me like Michael Jackson does an 8-year-old. But with Randy’s experience, he will prepare with the right people, and [it] will be easier for him to prepare for Lesnar than it would be for Lesnar to prepare for Randy. I’m just not sure it’ll be enough. I’m gonna go with Lesnar.

quote:

Chael Sonnen: I’ll bet 25 percent of Paulo [Filho]’s purse on “The Natural.”

quote:

Pros who picked Couture: 28
Pros who picked Lesnar: 6
No pick: 10
