Really, with Jones freakish reach, only a bigger man (heavyweight) stands much of a chance.

It is what has made Anderson so successful as well.

I agree though I don't think elbows should be allowed.

I think they just take away from a fight. Especially when used as a technique ONLY to cut a guy.

Rashad has that knockout power but it's nearly impossible to get a good takedown on jones because of that reach and jones is more athletic than Rashad. I think Jones would demolish him.

Anderson has fought at 205, but both fights were first round knockouts. He wasn't pushed in either fight.

I know but can he carry 205 well and keep his cardio? They are the same guy.

I think he walks around at over 225/230

Anderson is essentially the Jon Jones of the middleweight division. That tall lanky frame and being very athletic is the best frame for mma. I think Jones would beat Anderson with his wrestling but in the standup I would never bet against Anderson.

that's what I think with Hendo too vs jones. He's just too small and I think Jones could take him down or batter him on the feet. Hendo can knock out anyone though if he connects with the h bomb though

Is that the only fight you've seen? That's the common theme around here these days. Davis isn't ready just yet, but he has the best chance of beating Jones over the next 3-5 years.

I am getting to where I do not like elbows. All they do is cut guys. One of the leagues that I believe is gone now made them illegal. Nobody gets KO'd with an elbow they just get cut and the bleeding fricks them. Jones is a badass though. Can take nothing from that.
I'm torn on this issue.

On one hand, I agree that a lot of fighters use slicing elbows just to cut people.

But on the other hand, you can use elbows in a real fight, so they should be legal here since they don't cause serious damage.

But as long as doctors can stop fights not because of too much blood, but because of blood getting into their eyes even though otherwise they are fine, then I think they should be banned.

I'm wondering if it is possible to only ban "slicing" elbows. I think "smashing" elbows should still be legal. Elbows that smash down into the face aren't intended to cut. Slicing elbows are intentionally used to open up cuts.
