why don't guys like he and Griffen fight heavyweight if they walk around at 225-250? i'd imagine cutting weight hurts their conditioning.

Because that is a fat and out of shape 250
In fight shape when those guys are around 225 it's not a hard cut to 205 and guy like carwin and Brock are in fight shape at 260
They would be giving up 40 pounds, which is definitely significant, to those guys

I think Page wanted another shot at Evans if you ask me. That last fight Page had vs Rua was brutal.

I still cannot understand how Page didn't finish off Rashad in their fight. I'm sure he wonders the same when watching the tape....
Regardless, how the hell can you turn down a title fight?? (if that's true)

This is the second time page has been accused of ducking opponents. He's getting soft like mush. The sport has evolved and he hasn't. The guy used to be a freak athlete and he has looked pretty stiff out there the past few times. I don't know if it's nerves or old age but something ain't right with page.

as it has been mentioned once or twice before, rampage would have six weeks to get into fighting shape and then cut. he balloons in weight between fights. i doubt that it would have even been a title fight.

I like how not wanting to cut 45 lbs in four weeks is now considered ducking.
Posted on 2/10/11 at 12:34 pm to DirklasDaDirk
I agree. He could prolly make weight but it would be brutal on him.

You can say the same thing about Wandy vs. Page also and we see how that ended.
Plus soccer kicks are not allowed in UFC

yea and he knows if he loses he could drop damn near out of the top 10 in the UFC. It would put him at 2 loses in his last three fights.
With a loss to Shogun he would fall below these guys in no particular order
Shogun,
Evans,
Jones,
Bader,
Machida,
Griffin,
Thiago Silva,
Lil Nog,
Rampage

If I make a living off fighting at a certain weight than yes I call it ducking when you let yourself get that out of shape that you are 45 lbs over. I could understand 15 or 20 lbs but 45? Guys get injured all the time and he was the #2 behind Evans so he should have been smarter than that

You are in the minority then and those in the business don't consider it ducking, or even unusual to fluctuate in weight like that
Also, being 250 doesn't put him 45 over his fight weight, it puts him 45 over his weight class. Huge difference.
250 puts him 25 over his fight weight, which happens at that class quite often

It would be one thing if he was some noob and this was his only chance to make it in the UFC. He's got time to do it right and move on.

Rampage could die in the cage and still be ahead of Lil Nog. He is bad judging away from losing 2 in a row to Bader and Jason Brilz.

Spike TV had the replay the other day of Lil Nog/Brilz.
Brilliant marketing move by the UFC/Spike to reshow that piece of shite. Hey everyone here's some redflags in case you were wondering if boxing is the only corrupt combat sport. Next we have a great bout between Nam Phan vs. Leonard Garcia.

Dana is openly critical of judging and certain referees. Problem is, he doesn't hire the judges or the refs. He has no say in who works the fights and he has no authority to tell them anything.

Rua/Jones makes me tingle a little bit (no homo)
