I think Evans could be a force at 185. He obviously would have trouble with silva, but he would be favored in any other match up in the division.

UFC president Dana White has never been a fan of fighters refusing to fight one another because they are training partners or friends, so when former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans stated that he would change weight classes if fellow light heavyweight and good friend Jon Jones earned the light heavyweight title from Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in March, White's take was about as surprising as Anderson Silva feeling disrespected by an opponent.
"Now it's in the situation where, 'well, this guy's my friend and that guy's my friend...' Dude, you have way too many friends," White told MMADigest. "You need to keep the friends thing down and stop training with people. Now he's talking about, 'maybe I'll go to heavyweight, maybe I'll go to middleweight.' Well, if he goes to middleweight, Nate Marquardt is one of the top middleweights in the world... one of his friends. Shane Carwin's one of the best heavyweights in the world, well that's one of his friends. You know, he's got too many friends."
White also believes that Evans' has been inactive for far too long. The former champion has been out of action since May of last year, when he won a decision against Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and the right face Rua for the light heavyweight title. When it was revealed that Rua needed to undergo knee surgery and would be out for a significant period of time, however, White believes that Evans should have taken another fight in the interim.
"When he said he was going to sit out and wait for Shogun, I said, 'You're insane," White continued. "'You're going to sit? [Shogun] is injured and has to sit out. Has to overcome all of these things --rust and all this other stuff to come back. And you're gonna just sit out?'"
To White, it comes down to confidence in your abilities and taking advantage of one's limited time in the sport.
"If you truly believe that you're the best in the world you should be ready to fight anybody, because whoever you fight on the way up are guys, if you win the title, that are coming after you anyway," White said. "You might as well stay active, you might as well make money. Fighters have a very small window of opportunity and this kid's just letting the window close."
Now forced to sit while healing from a knee injury of his own, when he next steps foot inside the Octagon more than a year will have likely past since his last fight, but if it's at middleweight White says he's only a fight or two away from a title shot -- unless St. Pierre ends up with the title.
"His injury will keep him about 8-weeks," White said. "Rashad at middleweight is about two fights away. You know, if you did an Okami-Rashad Evans fight and the winner gets Anderson Silva or George St. Pierre... but he won't fight Georges St. Pierre because they're friends."

He is right... I've never really understood that stance.
We wanna talk about how it's not really s fight, it's a sport etc etc and then they get touchy when asked to fight each other
Could you imagine if that happened in other sports? If melo refused to play against Kobe because they were pals?

If he's not hard headed and does not stand with Silva I think he could give him a run.

"I can handle all the roid monkey, over hyped, one punch wonder comments you all make about me. Most of the time I laugh at them and yet I never seem to meet you guys at the meet and greets or fan expos. This calling fights being fixed or scripted is just a huge insult. I had a sponsor accuse me of throwing the Lesnar fight and let me tell you it is the most insulting thing I have ever experienced as a fighter... So to come on here (no matter your join date) and disrespect two warriors that just gave up everything for a chance to perform for you is about as low as you can go. To say a fighter would throw a fight is the WORST kind of fighter bashing imaginable... I just do not understand it. Jones was the better man last Saturday. It does not make Bader less of a man. He is still the guy that was undefeated and earned himself a spot at the top. He hasn't lost any of that because he lost. MMA is a form of Martial Arts. We are all going to lose and when we do we should only be judged by what we learned or failed to learn from the loss."

I can understand the not wanting to fight training partner thing because they share the same coach. Let's say Evans is set up to fight Jones. One will have to get an entire new camp/trainer/manager. Who does that? The new champ or the challenger who's been there longer? Do they leave Jackson's camp forever or just one fight? I'd imagine it would be hard for those guys just to up and leave a guy they literally trust with their life.

It's a sport, it isn't much different from Any other sport. Guys don't look at it like you might look at it, trust me
Some guys even look at it this way: what kind of friend am I if I take such a nice paycheck opportunity away from the other guy?

it even happens in basketball IMO
I remember the Suns/Bulls final... Barkley would have clobbered anyone else who drove the basket like Jordan... but they were friends and he didn't foul him hard like he would have pretty much anyone else

I don't see it a problem if they have different camps/trainers/managers. But one of those guys are going to have to find a new camp/trainer/manager. I'd imagine it would get messy if neither wants to give up their camp/trainer/manager. Are they financially obligated to these people? I would imagine it would be more of a "don't want to lose Greg Jackson thing" than a "fight my friends thing." Those guys are very loyal to Greg. At least, that's my never-fought opinion.

I could be wrong here but I think I do remember Conduit said he'd leave Jackson to fight GSP for a title. He may be the only one.

i can't see why she would want to ruin that face
also read that Ken Flo dropping to 145 lbs. he wants Aldo. I wonder what his walking around weight is.

I didn't read the MMAweekly link, but I read elsewhere it looks like Thiago Silva may have failed his drug test at UFC 125..
If Rashad/Rampage happens, that would make 3 ufc ppvs in a row that should all do insane buyrate numbers..
If Kenny Florian moves to 145, I'd love to see him fight Dustin Poirier.

According to Shogun, Rampage turned down the title fight before it was offered to Bones. Thats the 2nd time he's turned down a title shot in the past couple years. He was apparently too fat to get in shape in time for the Shogun fight.
