I don't know how I would order this group, but these are definitely the top 5:
UNC
Duke
Kentucky
Kansas
UCLA

I think the biggest mistake some programs make is immediately going out and hiring the guy who coached the media darling Cinderella from that year's tourney

I completely agree. It's one thing to get a good coach froma mid major (like Brad Stevens or Shaka Smart who have taken their teams a few times), but I would not trust a guy going from Florida Gulf Coast to UCLA as his second job. Talk about worlds apart.

I just don't see the appeal of UCLA. Maybe 20 years ago...but not now.
Why the hell 20 years ago - early 90's? But not now? What was special about the early 90's that makes UCLA so unattractive now?

Yeah but the central casting department approves. Dude looks and talks the part. After Howland, young Pat Riley clone is needed.

If UCLA isn't Top 5 based on location, resources, talent pool in area and history...then there are NO top jobs in America objectively.
So then subjectively the top jobs are the jobs you decide to stay at.
With the rise of mid-majors, then all jobs are equal if they can compete with pay and the top jobs is your small school job with small school job security.
