For those saying Pierce will be at Rice in 5 years.
quote:
The only concern lodged about Pierce is his willingness to stay at Tulane long term. He has been considered the heir apparent to the soon-to-be octogenarian Graham at Rice when he retires. Graham, 78, questioned that logic, saying Tulane could be Pierce’s destination job. In a matter-of-fact way and without using the word, he pointed out it’s not always attractive to follow a legend. “In all truth, he may perceive and it may be true that Tulane actually has more resources than Rice as far as baseball is concerned,” Graham said. “And there are a lot of people that might pause to come in here because we’ve had an extreme (number) of championships. What if they come in and don’t win that first year? “David has the potential to put Tulane in Omaha.”

In 5 years Graham may still be dead.
I hope Tulane gets better. It was a fun rivalry with LSU for a while. Plus some of the best unis in baseball.

I respect LSU's baseball program during the Skip Bertman years when you won so many CWS championships. But times have changed. All conferences across the board are more competitive. Today you can see TCU,Houston,Pepperdine,UL-L,UVA,Vandy etc play LSU head to head in every game. Because of the dollars all teams including SEC teams are putting into college baseball LSU never will be able to duplicate that magical Skip Bertman era. Everyone is playing on a more level playing field.
