No, he wasn't. But he spent a lot of time with them, that was his "specialty".

I really like Fickell and think he can eventually be a good head coach, but he needs a lesser job to get his feet wet and establish himself.
To reflect on things, the defense is still really good. They spotted them 14 points but they made great adjustments.
The offensive gameplan needs to be scrapped. This whole notion of trying to be balanced needs to be abandoned - if wholesale changes aren't made to be run first team then we're fricked.
This reminds me of a mix of 2005 and 2008. Things can be corrected, it's not the end of the world. But we need to pick one goddamn QB not named Bauserman and we need to run 60% of the time.

Fickell will never be a good head coach. He doesn't know enough about offense IMO. He had tmeouts in the end to act like he cared, and just acted they rolled over to next week. Our offense sucks balls.

He needs an offensive coordinator with a brain. AKA not Jim Bollman. You can be a defensive first head coach and be successful.
