Over the last couple of weeks, the Dolphins called the Bengals on more than one occasion to see if Cincinatti would be willing to trade the No. 1 overall pick. The Dolphins were told, in no uncertain terms, no. Cincinnati would not trade the pick and would stay put at No. 1.

Already preparing the melt for when the Pats pass up elite prospects to trade down into the second round so they can pick a DB that was slated to go in the 6th round

This is a serious question not trolling in the slightest. Is the myth that the Patriots are elite drafters dead?

They have not drafted a single Pro Bowler since 2013.

(I still think BB is the greatest HC of the modern era and will be successful without Brady, so not intended as a troll, just an observation).

Like any team he has peaks and valleys, the draft is a complete crap shoot. People started giving him a lot of shite for bad drafting back in 2013 and then he rattled off a couple amazing drafts that lead to another dynasty

But since 2000

ETA since 2013 they’ve drafted Joe Thuney, Shaq Mason, Trey Flowers, Jimmy G, James White, Logan Ryan, Jamie Collins. The “pro bowl” qualifier is a bit misleading since it’s a pretty silly way to value picks

Lot of misses since 2013 but some great hits as well and I’m excited about Winnovich, Harry, and Isiah Wynn as ascending players going into year 2

People consider Bill an elite drafter not because he hits on every pick, but because he understands the chaos of the draft and understands the only way to win it is to have as many dart throws as possible.

So what you are saying is Jerry isn’t the problem and the coaching is?

Mostly saying pro bowls are a silly way to gauge draft success but yes I would agree that Jason Garrett has held back that team for a while now

I mean that chart is irrelevant.

We are talking about 7 years or so without a probowler being drafted.

They are good drafters still. But are they elite drafters?

I've always loved their strategy of moving back and always having a ton of picks each year to fill the roster with cheap depth.

But at some point do they have to stay put or move up to gain some elite talent?

I’d consider those players I listed in my post to have Pro Bowl level value despite not making the popularity contest vote in that time.

Here’s a dirty little secret: no one is. It’s all a guessing game and sometimes you get cold on the table

I say if the Dolphins don’t draft Tau then he is going to have a Brady Quinn like drop.

Also think Belichick will draft Jordan Love if he is there at 23.

Hell naw

I doubt he’s even on their notoriously small draft board

They might as well sign “Tank Johnson” then

I seriously doubt they go into next season with Stidham as their number one.

They’ll pick up Winston or Dalton and draft someone like Montez or Fromm in the 4th or later.

Makes more sense than signing a low upside starter that doesn’t really help.

They really like Stidham. He’ll get a chance unless they find a way to get Tua in the building

So i see there’s talk that Detroit and Miami has a trade. Miami moving up to 3 to get Tua. Why would they Miami trade up to 3 to get Tua when they pick in front of the Chargers? Scared of a Chargers trade?

The rumors are they are moving up for a tackle, not tua
