It’s a weird dynamic. At one point I’m sure some of these schools claiming unfair circumstances have recruited or otherwise enticed athletes to enroll by some means or another (disproportionately favorable financial aid, employing a family member, etc). Apparently national recruiting is the line to cross.
No it’s not
Sounds like a school that recruits got upset that it was getting out recruited
But then the people who support the schools that recruit give shite to the people who support schools who don’t recruit that think these schools should be separated.. make it make sense

In Arkansas, public and private are grouped together.
Private schools’ classifications are adjusted by a “competitive equity factor.” There’s a whole process to determine what the factor is.
Basically, if for whatever reason a private school starts punching above its weight, they’re going to get bumped up a level or two.

Exactly how OK is. My son went to private and in one year they won 9 titles, I mean they were so good in all sports. And they were one class below the biggest class. And even then they were outnumbered 3 or 4 to 1 student count wise, meaning the schools they faced were way bigger.
So many parents complained and they moved them to top class using a newly made up metric lol. But man that run they had was bad arse.

Why don’t they just go back to putting all the schools in the same divisions, public and private? When I was in high school, Baylor and McCallie were in my public school’s division and it was never an issue.
It was that way when I started high school as well. They split because the public schools complained the private schools could recruit due to offering financial aid with tuition. I want to say the split between public/private happened around 1998-99

What’s the issue here?

I didn't say there was. I was providing context as to when and why the split happened in response to a poster talking about when public/private schools were not separated
