re: "Thug" Sherman's comments after the game to Crabtree that made him shove him

Last year when white beat him on a touchdown he shook whites hand after the play. So yes proven in a playoff game he can shake hands after a player beat him.
So he proves he can be a good sport one time in 12 months.
We've had no less then four examples of him being an a-hole in the past week.

It basically comes down to we like our black men not scare us and if they aren't fake we can call them thugs.

Hey I know a neck may be broke in this sport I watch but hey that guy better have manners while his life is on the line. We can be barbaric but not the people playing barbaric sport.
Ever hear about Derelle Revis do stuff like this?
What about Patrick Peterson? Aqib Talib? Jason McCourty?
They play the same barbaric game at the same elite level and at the same position as Sherman, yet he is the only one who can't avoid being an a-hole?

Only reason Peyton, drew,Brady etc don't get like that is because they rarely have to worry about even getting dirt on themselves
Philip Rivers talks a lot of shite. I don't think quarterbacks have a monopoly on not being assholes.

That's a good point to bring up when people think this is race related. I would same the ratio of people that hate Sherman and love Sherman is likely the same as the ratio of people that hate Rivers and love Rivers.

How often has rivers been referred to as a thug

I have completely changed my stance on what Sherman did in the game. This was even before I heard this audio.
It was a nice to see a player be candid during an interview and he doesn't deserve the "thug" label he has been given.
I overreacted like many people did after seeing his actions, but now realize he is an educated person that shouldn't be judged for talking shite on the football field.

Sherman has made it very clear that he and Crabtree don't get along at all.
Sincere or not in his "good game" it is very unlikely that Crabtree would be receptive of it. And why should he be?
This story has become so much bigger than it should be.

The same number of times that Rivers his given a ghetto-arse post game interview.
In fairness, I don't think he's a thug and I've never called him one. I know what a thug is and Sherman ain't it. But he is an a-hole, same as Rivers.

It's clear that people already have their mind made up about what they think of him. Not like facts are going to change anything.

I can definitely see the a-hole side. Fwiw I despise any race cardbut tthe amount of people who went straight to thug on someone with his background was eye opening m
As far as a-hole I love athletes like Sherman. They know they have to go out there and face the team or person and still are willing to run their mouth. I zlove when someone plays the real life heel. So many people want something besides generic answers but can't stand when they get it.
Same people will yell about game getting soft or pussification of America.
I find someone like jimmy graham far more annoying. Will flex after a play but backs down as soon as someone is willing to stand up to him.his physical actions show up his opponents just as much as a well y words.
Or when someone sacks can and does the superman pose and stomp....where's the outrage for sportsmanship

Answer the question, Jbeam, and others that get upset when people don't care for Sherman.
Please try to justify the shite he said in First take. I am still waiting to hear that. Was there anything wrong with what he said to Bayless?
I have no problem with that interview after the game, but he has done plenty of other things for me to think he's a punk. Also, this guy has stated numerous times how he graduated from Stanford, and feels the need to tell people how smart he is. The guy bragging about having a big dick, usually doesn't have a big dick… he is likely just insecure. I feel that Sherman is exactly like that. He might be smart, and is obviously a hell of a talent, but the guy has serious issues.

I didn't mind first take.I don't think it was nearly as bad as people think. I looked at it.
But are we only allowed to like someone who is perfect? Becauseyo disagree with what he said ddoesn't really mean he's a bad person. So holding an interview on a show with feaux sport outrage as your "see he's a punk" as your trump card doesnt hold as much water with me as it does some others who want to hate him

when I said educated it had nothing to do with where he went to school. I meant that he is calculated with his actions.

Yeah cause telling an accomplished and well known media personality and writer that you are better at life than him, he could never dream of accomplishing what you have, you are better than him, all of live tv isnt being an uprofessional a-hole at all
Skip Bayless, and his First Take counterparts, are the epitome of unprofessional. They intentionally troll people. That show centers around outlandish debate for the sole purpose of getting "shock value" ratings. Sherman's appearance was business as usual on that piece of shite show.
I don't disagree that Sherman can be perceived as an a-hole, but of all the things he's ever done to demonstate it, that one bothered me the least.

I don't get how people admit on Here all the time that bayless trolls on that show for ratings and when someone isn't nice to known troll the troll is just Mr innocence

I agree, but I get where it was coming from. People have a tendency to confuse acting ghetto and being a thug. Sherman was doing the former.
I understand he was amped but you can be amped without sounding like you still live in Compton and never went to Stanford. When Bart Scott had his "can't wait" interview literally no one called him a thug or anything derogatory.

I agree to a to a point. They should speak from the heart but it's still a professional league. I don't think we want interviews to sound like some stuff you'd hear on the neighborhood basketball court.

Skip is the definition of a troll but you have to watch the video (it's linked a few pages back). Skip literally said not one word before Sherman went rantard on him.
I don't think anyone is going to stick up for poor old Skip but his questions were legit during that segment. He said nothing incendiary.
Posted on 1/23/14 at 12:09 pm to ZereauxSum
On that interview no but skip trolled up to the point of the Interview. It seemed to me Sherman just talked about past points that were brought up. I think skips troll got him to act like that but still IMHO doesn't mean he's a punk

Sherman just preemptively trolled a troll. Had Skip been allowed to continue the interview unencumbered, I have little doubt we would have seen his shtick come out sooner or later, which is why I really don't feel bad for him at all in this instance
Posted on 1/23/14 at 12:17 pm to fightingtiger2335
Admittedly I don't follow Skip at all (for reasons stated above) so I don't know what he said before the interview. Given his history I'm not going to rule out the possibility that he was antagonistic.
But still, we all know how smart Sherman is (partly because he reminds us all the time). Given that he is so smart, why go on the show and rail on the host before he opens his mouth?
Again, I don't know what Skip said before but Sherman got pretty personal. It just makes him look like an even bigger a-hole who can't let stuff go. Which is strange for a guy who "doesn't want to be a villain".
