Thirty years ago Jose Canseco had an amazing week of baseball.

Most know about the home run that bounced off his head. That happened on May 26, 1993.

However, that wasn’t the worst thing that happened to him. Just three days later on May 29th the Rangers were in Boston, and they were trailing 12-1 entering the bottom of the eighth inning. Canseco had been begging to pitch if the Rangers ever found themselves in such circumstances in order to save their bullpen in a blowout. So, he was sent out to the mound to pitch. He made it through the inning, but surrendered 3 runs on 33 pitches, 2 hits, and 3 walks.

The worst part: He tore his UCL, and required Tommy John surgery.

On this date in 1965, Dick (Don't call me Richie) Allen hit a 529' HR out of Connie Mack Stadium.
In 1976, Joe Neikro hit the only HR of his 22-year career off his brother Phil.

In his prime, he was the most physically gifted player in the game

He swung the bat so hard, his back injuries were attributed to his backswing.

Agreed. He’s made out to be the bad guy in the steroid mess, but I can separate his talents from that asterisk.

And on this date 13 years ago, Halladay threw the 20th perfect game in MLB history.
