Andy Roddick smells redemption.
Let's get it started.

Let's get it started.

Roddick to Championship = lots of Brooklyn Decker time.

I'm tired of the lovefeast ESPN has with Roddick and his coach, Larry Stefanki. Its more like Roddic to Championship = lots of Larry Stefanki time. It gets really old. And now ESPN guys want to do the same with Federer/Annacone.
That aside, while Roddick had a great 2009, his 2010 has been piss-poor. I'm not sure if his mind ever truly made it back to the courts since he and Decker were in the news for their Hawaii trip early this past spring. He has stuck it up on the courts ever since.

Yea ESPN has always loved Roddick and the Williams sisters (and any other American with a pulse). It gets old but that's why you get DirectTV

As for Roddick, I wouldn't say he's been pisspoor this year. He hasn't been great but losing to someone like Fish isn't the outterwordly loss it once might have been.
I've said it for years. I'm tired of this new, all-around game, grind-it-out, pseudo-Leyton Hewitt that Roddick has tried to turn himself into. He needs to go back to attacking, being the aggressor and dictating points.

He needs a little slack, at least for some of his 2nd half problems, because of mono.
BTW, where does the line start to get mono from B Decker?

Monfils is tied 2-2 going to the 5th set. This would be a nice upset for Roddick.

Robin Soderling just got taken to a fifth set as well. Him losing would mean Fed could basically waltz to the semis

Decent opening match for Nadal. He always starts slow in Slams and his opponent (we'll call him G) was playing very well. Nadal showed some flashes at time and the biggest positive was his serving seems to continue to improve which is scary.
I 100% agree with McEnroe's comments about him needing to come in more and cutoff serves instead of sitting so far back. He was also very conservative with second-serve returns. That needs to change.
On the otherhand I completely disagree with McEnroe's comments about not being a Sampras player and not knowing how to win matches by only winning the close points. Who the fvck has he been watching?!?! That's exactly what Nadal does. He broke Murray at like 5-5 all three sets at Wimbledon and won less points overall. Ditto against Fed in the epic when he had like a third as many break point chances but converted on almost all of em. Nadal is exactly like Sampras in that aspect of his game.
Still think Murray/Fed is the smart money but I thought it was an encouraging start for Rafa.

I thought it was encouraging in some ways, but slightly worrisome in others. His backhand still looks bad, and he still seems tentative with it. His return of serve was pretty bad as well. Gabashvili was just lobbing his second serves in and Rafa was doing nothing with it. He'll need to improve to make the final, but that's obviously possible. He has some big tests coming up. Istomin is a big hitter with a two handed backhand and a big serve. It could be a tough match.

Yea WTF was up with that?!?! I'm hoping he's just starting off slow like he usually does but he was in 100% clay court mode when it came to returning the second serve.
