Look who it is. The guy who thinks Fed was "still a serve and volleyer in 2004".

Carry on.

How about an even money bet on whether he wins another major. Name the price, I'm in.

Not doing anything crazy, but put me in the camp that thinks Roger +600 is slightly absurd. Might take him to win the first set.

Eh, you would have just been giving your money away, and I would have said this before the match had I seen it.

I would have mortgaged shite i didn't even own to take Novak at that opening line. By the time I saw the odds, they were out of control on my bookie's site, and I had already put my comically paltry 5d bankroll on novak.

They could have played hat match a hundred times and Fed wouldn't have won once.

I have in my head that Alex's ceiling is higher than Domi, although it's difficult to explain why. Maybe because I saw Alex in person, and even though he lost, I came away thinking he was a freak of nature the way he moved at his size. But, he does not have a lot of variety of shot. On that subject, Domi has added some slices, but is basically not much more than a physically fit ballbasher. May the best man win.

Something tells me Thiem will have a huge letdown, but he still might be able to pull it off. I think he’s the better player.

Third set to Thiem. This still might go a couple of more hours.

Crowd is so dead. Lifeless Thiem vs. a guy who can't take advantage.

4th set breaker time.

Well we got the better matchup for the final.

I hope this year can finally be the young guns break through

If Thiem can pull this off against Djok, he can also pull out the French against Rafa

That would shoot some life into tennis

Thiem is 26 years old. He's not a "young gun". Men's Tennis needs guys like Zverev, Tsitsipas, Shapovalov, FAA to win slams to breathe life into the sport. Thiem is just a placeholder for the next generation.

I saw the first half of the tiebreak and it seemed sloppy. The match was boring for a really competitive four set major semifinal. Hopefully, there are some fireworks on Sunday. #teamthiem

At 26, that gives thiem 8 more years of elite level tennis with today’s new conditioning

That’s 32 more grand slam opportunities

I see thiem ending his career with 3-6 grand slam titles. I find it hard to call that a “placeholder”

Thiem avoiding that 5th set was helpful after playing 5 sets vs. Bolt, 4 with Fritz, and the grueling 4+ hour match with Rafa.

I just don’t see Djok being touchable right now. He just put his entire country on his back and dick slapped the world in ATP Cup, and he has absolutely crushed his way through the Aussie so far as well.

Same. If Thiem gets more than a set I’ll be surprised.

There hasn't been a player who won their first GS after their 26th birthday that went on to win more than three grand slams since the 1920s. And Stan Wawrinka is the only player who won as many three slams after winning their maiden slam after their 26th birthday. I would say the odds are stacked against Thiem that he ends up finishing his career with more than one or two slams.

This seems like a awful bet for you

I have a hard time seeing him not having multiple French opens by itself
