Have I already made this bold take?

Bold take: Tiafoe will never crack the top ten.

Next Gen Semis:

De Minaur v. Munar

Teetsy v. Rublev

Would be shocked if it wasn't teetsy v. De minaur in the final.

Sportsbook aren't posting odds on the matches...I guess because the format ti different.

I was unaware that they recently changed the name from "ATP World Tour Finals" to "ATP Finals". Huh.

I think it's because they had to add sponsor Nitto. Thiem/Anderson and Nishikori/Federer tomorrow.

Anderson defeated Thiem and Nishikori beat Federer on day one of the tour finals.

I was scrolling back pages to find the thread and didn't realize you had just bumped it. Alex and Nole win in straights today. I thought Isner might be able to take a couple of breakers from Nole.

For our lurking friend bayoucracka, Courier says a speed index of 42 is similar to Shanghai and 35 is around Cincinnati pace. This is purportedly from Hawkeye data.

Do they have data they release for every tournament? Or is Courier the only one who gets to have it?

Also, is there any sort of public disclosure about what court pace index actually represents and how it's determined?

God bless the internet:

LINK

quote:

The ITF has developed a formula for classifying the speed of a court in terms of a quantity
known as the court pace rating (CPR). The CPR is based on the older SPR (Surface Pace
Rating), defined by the relation SPR = 100(1 - µ). For example, if µ = 0.7 then SPR =
30. A fast court therefore has a high SPR rating and a low COF. The CPR is defined by
the relation CPR = SPR + k where k is a player perception factor given by k = 150(0.81 -
COR). k is therefore zero for a court with COR = 0.81 (a typical, average value), is negative
on clay courts (where COR is about 0.9) and is positive on grass courts (where COR is about
0.75). The CPR therefore represents a combined property of a court, based on both its COF
and COR, that correlates with the perception of players regarding the speed of the court.

ETA: is CPR the same thing as CPI? I don't know.

This blog article by Jeff Sackman is worth checking out. He compares his method of determining court speed from adjusted ace percentages to the actual reported CPI data. The data does not always line up:

Brett Haber was joking with Courier like this is Jim's insider project, so I'm not sure how much of that info is publicly available.

Anderson just beat ninja 6-0, 6-1. I'm going to take a wild guess Kei is injured.

I'd post the SI body edition pics, but would probably get the banhammer. Happy retirement to our Polish sista.

I think Djoker and Anderson are almost locks to get through and everyone else is still up in the air, but round robin messes with me.

Looks like Bryan/Sock are advancing in dubs and pride's boys Venus and Klaasen are hanging tough.

Djokovic has the goddamn cheat code right now. I have a play on him pending to win the WTF. I'm liking my chances right now.

Solid bet. Only Anderson in this form has a chance at maybe mucking out a couple of breakers on him.

Jesus, Tennis Channel needs to chill with the Shriner's Hospital ads. I just want to watch tennis and I get pounded with ads featuring disabled kids every changeover.
