thats alot of money for a 35 year old tackle
Posted on 3/9/17 at 8:34 am to dabigfella
I think he took his highest offer. Last chance to get paid
He's still playing really well and these teams have money to blow

No he's not overrated at all. Bouye has progressively gotten better every single year he has been in the league. He broke out this year but he has been a very solid corner for a few seasons now.
Bouye was one of the best man cover corners in the league this past season.
Losing Bouye is a much bigger deal than you think it is. We now are really thin at corner with an okay Kareem Jackson, old Jonathan Joseph who is falling off and will be gone after this season, and a good young Johnson. Corner has to be addressed now with losing Bouye.

Btw I'm a big time Pats apologist obviously, but Mike Lombardi has been insufferable ever since he came back to the media
He writes/talks about the Pats constantly in the most vague terms like "they need to sign a defensive lineman" or some shite and then chirps on twitter like "I TOLD YOU THAT WAS GONNA HAPPEN"
The Ringer had him do a "fix the franchise" thing for every team and they were so basic it was a waste of time. shite was like "get Blake bortles to play better". Well no shite, genius.

quote:They don't need Gronk to win a championship. More importantly, give me a better time to ship Gronk off. Some other team will be stupid enough to grab him and give the Pats picks for him.
And the pats aren't getting rid of Gronk. Dwayne Allen is literally the same exact signing as the Marty's bennett signing last year. And now wouldn't even be the time to "sell high" on Gronk.

He was, I'm not denying it, but when you have kareem jackson, kevin johnson, jonathan joseph on the same team, AJ bouye wasn't always covering #1 receivers. He will be now. When you add him covering #1 receivers all the time and take away a defensive line with clowney, wilfork, watt and linebackers like mckinney harassing the QB all the time, it kinda changes how long a QB has to throw at you. I'm not saying he's trash, Im just saying he's not a $15m/year corner or whatever he's getting.

Just because they won one, doesn't mean they don't "need" Gronk. You don't win championships the exact same way every season. Pats missed his red zone presence DEARLY at the end of the regular season last year. There was just no defense in the playoffs to make them pay for it. Teams get better, the teams that fall off have your mentality "do the same thing and we'll be back in it". Those teams go 8-8 the next year. You don't do the same thing, you go out and try to get better because everyone else is.
Gronks on a team friendly contract and isn't going anywhere. He's the best in the game and the best offensive weapon the pats have. Everyone just loves to throw out a crazy move "because Belicheck!!". If they had lost the Super Bowl, you'd be going "watch out for Brady to be traded because Belicheck!!"

Yeah 15 mil a year is definitely over paying, but that's just what the market demands. Kareem is an alright corner but he's slow, and JJo has lost a step and will be gone after this season. Keeping Bouye long-term was very important to me for the future of this team.

All I'm say is that a guy with three back surgeries and four leg/knee injuries isn't going to stay in his prime forever and it wouldn't shock me if the Pats found a way to sell another franchise on the "he's still got a lot left in him" dream.

Can't stand Lombardi. Not sure if he's being serious at this point or if he's created an egomaniac wrestling heel type character.

No blame for the offense that scored 3 points through 3.5 quarters against a statistically pourous defense? Cmon now.

And all I'm saying is that it is not happening.

Can we please discuss the fact that the 49ers signed a fullback to a four year $21M deal.

Posted on 3/9/17 at 9:08 am to JBeam
that fullback ran all over the steelers with the game on the line the one time i watched the ravens play late last year

Wow....I sure hope the Saints request a bit more than just Malcolm Butler.
