The first Round picks are all done and now the final numbers are in for last night’s NBA Draft – and it was three-pointers all round it seems. Up 15% from 2016 for the second most watched NBA Draft on ESPN after 2015’s event, last night’s b-ball future view drew 3.56 million viewers.

The drop is consistent across English-language broadcasts on Fox and the Spanish-language broadcasts on NBCUniversal’s Telemundo. Games on Fox have averaged 1.98 million viewers, compared with 3.55 million on ESPN in 2014. Telemundo’s games have drawn an average audience of 1.87 million viewers, down from 3.3 million on Univision four years ago.

Oh Wow! A primetime event on ESPN did better than a early/mid-work timed Fox event!

I'm so shocked!!!!

Edit: and not even considering the lack of US in the world cup

Obviously the time difference is the main reason, but I'm glad Fox is getting crushed because their broadcast has been shite.

I've watched almost every world cup match and didn't watch the draft (a pretty avid pels fan/STH holder).

Get used to it. They open the rights for at least the next two world cups.

The Mexico game today was awful

24.7 million people watched the United States play Portugal in 2014.

11 million watched the United States play Ghana in 2014

Americans care about United States soccer but not international soccer that doesnt involve their country.

Yes. We like to watch America compete. That's not really about soccer

Your persona on here is very hipster millennial lib, so I'm surprised you relentlessly take shots at kickball.

Not really comparing apples to apples there, WestCoast.

If it were 7pm vs 7pm (or something reasonably close), okay cool.

Then why did the 2016 US Gold Medal Basketball game only draw only 11 million? And thats the championship match

In 2012 against Spain it was only around 12 million.

Neither of those sniff those Portugal numbers.

US fans care about the United States in the world cup.

Am I saying soccer is some sleeping giant? Of course not. But to act like Americans don't care about the world cup when the US is involved in silly no matter how much you hate soccer.

I have never said this. Of course America cares about the world cup when America is in it. But America has to be in it for people to care

I think the ratings would be decent if it wasn't at such a horrible time but we'll never know. As long as the US Qualifies in 2018 (Which they will) they likely won't ever miss another world cup with the expanded field.
