Well, that was a lot less dramatic than I was hoping.

Huh? Finishing under yellpw doesn't cause a ratings boost.

I'm not saying the finishing under caution does that. I'm saying (and its been proven) that the television ratings are typically much higher in the final laps of a race because most people want to see the ending. that is why NASCAR and others drag on the final laps for as long as possible when a caution does occur.

That, and the fact that a 225 MPH race shouldn't finish at 60 MPH.

Nascar may have did it for ratings but I'm fine with their ot. They listened to the fans who hated yellpw finishes and fixed it.so its awin win

because its typical. go back and watch older NASCAR races prior to 2001ish before TV ratings were that big of a deal and you'll see less cautions in the final laps. NASCAR turns a end of the race caution flag into $$$$$ better than any other organization.

That doesn't mean shite to me. The only reason there were so many lead changes is because it was better to not be in the lead for the first 197 laps. There was no competition for the passes. The whole race, the leader allowed the 2nd-place car to pass without even putting up a fight. Boring.

I dunno. I enjoyed the racw more than recent ones. Behind the leaders had lots of movement as well.

I've never been much of a motorsports fan, but I had the Indy 500 on and watched every now and then when I was taking a break from yardwork. From the perspective of a very casual fan it absolutely sucked for the race to end under a caution. Not impressed.

Like so many motorsports racing, you really have to be there to enjoy the thrill. I used to go fairly regularly with my Dad and cousin back in the late seventies. The last time I was at INDY was the 1985 race when Danny Sullivan did the 360 and came back to beat Mario for the win. I really miss getting to go and hopefully will make it back one day. I do agree with you that they should implement the NASCAR rule and try to finish with a green, white, checkered flag. If you have never been try to go once in a lifetime. To me, the TV just cant do it justice.
