Just a terribly constructed lineup. Only 3 good hitters (Heyward, Freeman, JUp). It's fine to roll BJ and Simmons out there every day obviously because they bring other things to the table. Uggla and CJ are useless though and Gattis is extremely flawed.

Simmons

Was hitting close to .280 coming in to the game. Should be hitting behind Heyward if you ask me. Can actually control the bat.

He is allergic to walks though. When your OBP is under .300 you are not doing a good job offensively.

His OBP is terrible.

BJ's OBP is .341 since April 10th. Simmons' OBP is .294 this year.

But he can put down a bunt when you need him to. He can move a runner when called to. I like the way he handles the bat in situations like that.

Why would batting leadoff keep him from hitting home runs? What a dumb conversation.

RBIs are meaningless.

why is it that only below average hitters are said to be able to 'handle the bat'

I don't want to bat a guy second just so he can bunt when 'necessary."

Over the last three weeks, BJ is a better hitter than Simmons.

Whitie is probably to blame for this terrible play of late.
