It's why there is no college football Goat

Notre Dame was early century media darling

Alabama was darling of the South.

USC was west Coast darling.

Ohio State was mid-century media darling.

Oklahoma won more than anyone. But who were they playing?

You can't quantify. There is no GOAT in cfb, just a lot of good teams.

I think we can narrow it to a good top 10 and maybe a top 5

But beyond that is stupid. Every top 5 school easily and maybe every top 10 school can lay claim to GOAT.

Oh and there are ton of different SOS formulas (some would have LSU 6 others would have them much much lower). You can easily make the argument that Penn States Indy schedules in the 80s were far tougher than regular conference schedules could ever be

LSU's schedule during the late 80s was brutal.

'88
Week one was #10 Texas A&M, week 5 #4 Auburn (Earthquake game) both wins in Tiger Stadium.
In between those two top 10 matchups, LSU went to Tennessee, Ohio State, and Florida. They still had to go to Bama and State and had #2 Miami come into Tiger Stadium.

The following season LSU opened the season with two non conference games @A&M and Florida State.

Your Alabama hate is hilarious. You seem to be a decent poster until it comes to Alabama then you melt and make a fool of yourself
ETA: I don't claim '41, most don't. But there are legitimate arguments for every single other NC Alabama claims.
Plus Alabama isn't the only school to retroactively claim titles

I don't think that guy is an ND fan, for what it's worth. He just hates Bama.

We still have the edge in some metrics, but y'all have the edge in the most important one now, so that's that.

In our defense, I don't believe we've ever retroactively claimed any titles other than the one Rockne, in 1926, had Dickinson claim for 1924. I do kind of wish we would because we have some legitimate claims on titles that we don't claim (1919, 1920, 1953, 1964, 1993). Of those, probably the best claims we have are on 1919 and 1953, and 1993 still kind of chaps my arse. We were better than FSU that year and beat them without too much trouble, and we would have won a playoff.

ND really should claim 1964. A major poll at the time selected them and it's listed on the NCAA site.
1993 was the Bobby Bowden Lifetime Achievement award.

Edit: 1919 is listed on the NCAA site too. Claim that son of a bitch!
