Did you see that McNeese's 3B committed 6 errors today? His batting avg (.333) is better than his fielding percentage (.250)

I've been around baseball my entire life and have never heard of anyone committing 6 errors in a game. That is mighty impressive if I do say so myself.

eta: This includes a bunch of 8-9 year old baseball as well

That's a pretty rare feat. I think the only sports parallel I could think of is if a football player had 6 fumbles in one game...

That's pretty awful. I wasn't the best with the glove, but I don't think I committed that many errors in one game.

Watched this "Who's the Best Now" program on MLB Network last night. They did who the best 1B were, and they use some formula using all types of stats and shite to crank out their top 10 and then Joe Sheehan and Sean Casey offered their own insights and top 10 lists.

Both Sheehan (8) and Casey (10) had Freeman as a top 10 1B. Sheehan said that while the advanced defensive numbers weren't kind to Freddie, he felt they were inaccurate, because he has very good range moving to his right, and does a good job picking balls out of the dirt. Went on to say his offensive numbers at his age best compare to a young Eddie Murray.

By comparison:

Murray (age 21 season):

.283/.333/.470, 27 HRs, 29 doubles, .350 wOBA

Freeman (age 21 season):

.282/.346/.448, 21 HRs, 32 doubles, .345 wOBA

Not bad. Murray with a touch more power, Freeman draws more walks. They went on to say Freeman has added a lot of muscle this year in hopes to beef up his power production. They raved on his doubles ability as well.

I remember Jim Presley committing 3 errors in one inning. That was painful to watch.

I agree with all of that. Just from the human eye, he was a pretty damn good defensive 1st baseman, especially picking balls in the dirt, last year and was shocked to see his advanced metrics so poor after the year. Glad to see some "experts" actually do their homework for once.

Nice find Dan.

Too bad the new Freddie "Hulk" Freeman will be mashing homers for a 4th place team though.

Lets wait and see if Freddie has a sophomore slump. Before we make that comparison. Just saying.

As far as I can remember, Brooks Conrad didn't go a play without making an error in the 2010 NLDS.

Thanks for making me lose my lunch appetite by reminding me of what Brooks did on the Bobby Cox Farewell Playoff Tour

I'm surprised Sheehan went against the metrics.

Do those shows like Clubhouse Confidential feel awkward to anyone else? They try way too hard to explain things
