Definitely the culmination of a lot of work and building over the last 20 years - and I think most central folks expected another crazy finish like we’ve become accustomed to that would lead to the win if anything, so it was just as shocking to see from my end as everyone else

I got to central right as they became their own school district, and before then central was a bottom feeder school most of its history. Sid came in and laid the base foundation over the last 2 decades and Simoneaux was the perfect guy to come in and take it to the next level. Big part of the staff and alumni support that’s there now are guys who were from that initial Sid era and really bleed for that program. We had a couple years where it felt like we should’ve won or atleast gotten there so feels awesome for a lot of those guys to get over the hump

Got my wires crossed there but to be fair that might’ve been his only play of that game. They were still working him back. Point was mainly about him not being there for most of the season when the offense had issues at times

Neville was very fortunate Central did not have Top WR Womack; OUT w "Concussion"....he scored the 1st TD at Neville last year.

Womack came back for Ruston & put up 6 catches 113 yards 2 TDs in the Dome

Neville Snap for the FG was too HIGH" for the Holder that extra split/second was all it took to BLOCK IT....+ he had a convoy 4-5 players follow him for 92 yard TD.....
..........In the huddle WAFB has video of Coach and plan to Block it" it wasn't an accident ....had KD Mays not blocked the FG underneath ....his 6'-5" brother DK Mays would have Blocked it instead over the top.

Good teams find different ways to Win...margin of error too slim that Deep into the Playoffs

Keep seeing Last Year Central UPSET Neville in Monroe; this time it was Central was LUCKY to beat Neville in Monroe

37 degrees man was it COLD! for us South Louisiana boys!

Neville had over 300 yds on the ground against Central. Central didn't even have 150 total yds offensively. Neville dominated on both sides of the ball. In the end, the ONLY way for Neville to lose was a scoop and score on a blocked FG attempt and it happened. Central was fortunate to be in the Dome. The HC at Neville cost his team a trip to the Dome.

Man, them are some salty Neville Tiger tears. Neville had chances to pull away and didn’t, deal with it, or fire this head coach too. There were some INt’s and failure to converts. The Nichols kid did put up big numbers, but most of those numbers came on 3 or 4 big runs. And kudos to the O line for creating those lanes for him to run thru.

It’s petty to say that Central is fortunate to go to the dome. They were the better football team against Neville. Final score says so. Yards don’t equate to points last time I checked. End zone trips do. These athletes earned the right to play for the championship and, they proved to everyone they belonged there by winning the trophy in the most convincing fashion.

Last year wasn’t a fluke, and neither was this year. Time to accept it up there in north LA.

Act like y'all been there before... Oh, that's right, y'all haven't. Neville dominated Central in every phase of this past semi final game except the final score. It was a fluke. Coaching cost Neville the win. Check the box score.

Neville lost to Central. Two years in a row. That’s what the scoreboard said, twice. Go ahead and run this coach off, and try again next year.

Again, what has Central ever won in fb? Am I missing all this tradition with Wildcat fb? This is Central's first state championship since the 60's. I lived in Central back in the 90's. Baseball team was solid back then. Fb program was the poster child for birth control at that time. I don't have a dog in this fight. However, I watched the semi final game and the unthinkable had to happen for Central to win and it did. I just call it like I see it.

Lot can change in 30 years. Check out the facilities, the stadium, and production they put into it now and come back.

Program has been winning district titles and making playoff runs for the last two decades. Only just the beginning

From 04-06, Central was 9-20.
From 10-11, they went 13-9.
From 14-18, the Cats were 27-33.
In '22, they were a solid 4-6.

Winning district titles and making playoffs runs for the last two decades... come on, now.

Look, what they did the last three weeks beating 2-5A is pretty damn impressive. But, what your statement of the program the last two decades ain't even close.

Coach Simoneaux in his 2nd year is the biggest difference.

His record is 22 wins - 5 loses in these two seasons. Dutchtown was the real fluke last season.

Oof!!! Keep grasping at straws, and keep hanging on to the good ole days!!!

Times have changed, NELA doesn’t have control over things anymore, a SELA now does.. bless your poor heart!!!

Central just held your beloved NELA TEAMS to 40 pts total in 4 games in the state playoffs, when in one we pulled our 1st/2nd team, and had our freshman in the game against WO just so they wouldn’t feel so bad!!

Around 9 min into the 4th it went to a running clock, as to not embarrass Ruston even more!!

Maybe so but they were impressive this year. I watched them beat Neville and Ruston. That defense is as legit as a D can be. No idea how they willl fair in the future. Teams like Neville and Ruston will keep producing good players. I rooted for north La but have to give central props. Hell, Ash beat my son’s school but I still rooted for them in the championship. Down year on north La regarding championships. Next year is a new chapter

Simoneaux may be the difference. Before he took over the program, Central was losing players to Live Oak, Zachary, Walker, and CHS. Good coaches still have to have good players in order to be successful. However, from what I've heard he is a man of faith. He has these kids believing in everything they do on a daily basis. In coaching, that may be the most difficult thing to teach for the kids to learn. Keep in mind, Simoneaux does not stay long at one particular school. I know Central compensates him well; however, winning takes care of everything and he may want more money.

BUT

they had enough to get him from Catholic… after this chip why wouldn’t they pay him whatever he wants? Where would he even go? Texas? Could West Monroe even afford him now?

I hope him and ruston and Neville coaches leave and go to Texas. Time for Byrd to be the powerhouse

It’s no fluke central blocked that kick. They have a knack for getting to kicks weather it be field goals or punts. They blocked the extra point right before the field goal. Mike Collins lost that game for his kids.
