I drive by the old Texas Stadium everyday on 183. I actually have my alarm set early to watch that eyesore die.

We still need to demolish the Astrodome. I hear some chihuahua-sized rats live in it. I bet it still smells like piss and popcorn.

I live in the middle of Dallas, and I awoke to a long sustaining thunder sound.
I guess I should be a little choked up, but I guess it hasn't sunk in yet. Lots of games enjoyed with my grandfather and father when I was a boy and recently with my son there (including a few NFC Championships and Emmitt Smith record-breaking game against Seattle).

From what I've read, you can blame the Texans and the rodeo for this. Apparently they think anything it is used for will somehow infringe on their ability to make money at Reliant.

Texas Stadium was one of the worst I've ever visited. For one thing, we had to park what seemed to be miles away. After the game, the ramps and corridors were so narrow that I felt like I was getting mugged. It was worse than Bourbon Street on Mardi Gras. Funny, I just remembered that the airport in Dallas is very much the same.

You need to check out the new Terminal D at DFW. It's gorgeous, hoping they tear down the other terminals and replace in this model someday.

The Astrodome is still standing because just enough people want to put it on the NRHP.
