I have been thinking about that with all the golf discussion. If they can throw that kind of money at golfers, they could easily commandeer 16 or 32 of the top 50 tennis pros.
Larry Ellison, who owns Indian Wells, has Saudi type FU money. So, I think he would either fight back or try to run one of these leagues himself.

I haven’t sat down and thought this out, but imagine if there was a tour similar to WTT but with exhibitions. Then you could have sideshow competitions like trick shots, fastest serve, etc. It would be a dream life for a guy like Kyrgios, and the top players could show up a few times a year as well. Seems like a win-win for everyone except maybe the ATP and WTA. Hell I’d even be more likely to watch that than a 250 tourney.

Yeah I could see this. That seems like the way individual sports are heading, where players market themselves and go to the highest bidder.

The highest bidder still wants to make money, though. I can't claim to have a great understanding of the economics of the ATP tour, but at some point, if you pay the players too much, you're just losing money.

I don't know where that point is, to be clear. But it's somewhere. And it's lower than it would be if they weren't paying the chicks equal prize money.

Huge problem that can't even be touched in this political climate

US Open will not bend the knee. So, Nole is probably out for Flushing Meadows. Just more clown world.

2 weeks to curb the spread right? Covidians are truly evil human beings.

So dumb.
I love this part. What, they were going to say if he could somehow smuggle himself in here he's allowed to play?

Also, this means he's pretty much out for the entire hardcourt season. He's going to plummet down even farther in the rankings. I would guess this means there's a good chance he doesn't qualify for the ATP Finals, either, as he is outside the top 8 currently.
You could be looking at Novak Djokovic being seeded outside the top 10 for the Australian Open.

It's all the more ridiculous when you look at my post that opened the thread. Benny P was upset in January that his jabs weren't doing anything.

Funny bc the players that had to quit Wimbledon due to testing positive were all vaccinated
And the grand champion was not

POTUS quadruple vaxxed still gets Covid but Novak can’t play because he’s not vaxxed. At this point, just bring on the asteroid

Same BS the AELTC used to pass the blame.
Funny this is announced on the same day that Biden gets Covid as well.
ETA: There might still be some Rafa +600's floating around.
+700 at FD actually.

Alright, boys, hard court season has begun in earnest. Demon just advanced to the Atlanta finals. Foe and the autist Brooksby are up now. DC on Monday, Toronto/Montreal a week later, then Cincy.

Can’t decide between…
A) Alcaraz is finally hitting a bit of a wall
B) Sinner is sneakily becoming a top player
C) A little of both
D) It’s just 1 match and should be ignored
E) It’s hard court season… who cares?
F) None of the above
Posted on 8/1/22 at 4:05 pm to bayoucracka
When you analyze the list of top players for the Open, Sinner looks very appealing, especially at the current odds.
Novak - questionable/doubtful to play
Rafa - ab and foot injuries
Medvedev - deserved favorite
Alcaraz - rightful 2nd fav but still has to prove himself on hard courts
Zverev - doubtful to play
Tsitsipas - can’t seem to get over the hump
Rublev - see above
I don’t know who else is even in the conversation. Maybe Fritz or Berrettini. But, assuming Novak is out, Sinner 20/1 or better probably won’t be around in a few weeks.
