Tim Tebow was catching passes and lining up with running backs and receivers in addition to his quarterback reps at Patriots camp Friday.
Coach Bill Belichick indicated Friday morning that Tebow wasn’t locked into playing quarterback exclusively, and he could continue to see practice reps at tight end

Asked whether he's willing to play different positions, Tebow told reporters he'll do "whatever the coaches ask."

Might as well try him there, especially now.

wearing #5 limits his position in the NFL...can't see him kicking or punting.

They can change his number...

ETA: And its common practice to put a stud WR at safety/corner on hail mary plays. Or to put your QB in the wide out spot on wildcat.

What I'm saying is he can be on the roster as a QB and still line up at TE a few plays in the game. I think.

Troy Brown (no relation I think) played safety and WR for the pats wearing #80. I wanna say that he started at safety a few games and this was maybe 10 years ago.

Deion Sanders wore 21 and played whatever the hell position he wanted.

He was essential to the Cowboys when Irvin got hurt offensively.

i'm pretty sure the NFL will make exceptions for certain players, but primary positions are decided by the grid above. with that said, i just thought that the patriots would have given Tebow a number in the teens, so he could play positions like Slash did at Pittsburgh.

Yea, they might still change his number before the season starts. They can still do that right? I know Charles Woodson just stole Tracey Porter's number.

The Patriots won't list Tebow as a QB if they plan on playing him in games at non-QB positions. I'm saying this under the assumption that he'll be their third QB at best. And if the third QB plays, doesn't that mean the starting QB has to sit the rest of the game? That's some kind of rule or something.

I'm not 100% but I think it only limits the roster spot he can take up. If he wears #5 he will take up a roster spot as a QB but they can line him up anywhere.
