Right, wrong, or indifferent, the sport has taken a huge downturn in the past five to seven years. The lead driver checking out and single file racing it also brutal to endure.

The Gen 5 car made for some horrible racing. It was, and still to a point, is IROC racing. Cookie cutter, pretty boy don't do or say anything controversial drivers made for boring races also. Atleast things seem to have livend up a little with the Gen 6 car and a little more of the boys have at it mentality.

What do u expect when the same person won the championship 5 times in a row and the most popular driver almost always finished 20th or worse? It got boring and repetitive so much to the point that it ran some fans off.

well unlike the NBA, it is pretty hard to push certain stars to the top and blatantly give them favorable calls in order to make sure they stay at the top. NASCAR hyping up Dale J.R. over the last 12+ years simply because of his last name and because of his last name ONLY, is their own fault. he is absolutely nowhere near the most talented and never has been. you have to remember who is watching NASCAR for the most part. those fans will cheer for whoever NASCAR tells them to. just like WWE wrestling does with their fans as well. exact same fan base.

The last few California races have been pretty entertaining. I'm glad the cut it down to one race a year, but the racing has improved quite a bit there since the beginning of the COT era.

Had to happen. NASCAR had a huge bubble in the 90s, and it had to burst sooner or later when the bandwagoneers jumped onto something else. Economy hasn't helped, either.

NASCAR jumped the shark when they started giving away Lucky Dogs.
