The bowl season is fruit withering on the vine.

A true, but damn sad statement. Maybe it’s just my situation of being married to a CFB loving family.

At Christmas, my MiL, BiL and I will stay up till 1 AM watching some West Coast Bowl between an MAC and CUSA team while everyone else was asleep because it was a fun game.

Players need to be obligated to play their bowls and teams need to be obligated to play.

What could possibly be the benefit of opting out? You lose millions of dollars, you lose valuable gametime you could use to give younger players experience. I mean, just sit all your starters and play young guys to get them real experience and accept the cash.

What a bizarre decision

No poll that counts should be out til week 5

I mean they’re fun to look at and all, but you can call and text your 50 CFB loving friends and have your own poll if it’s that important to you

Does ESPN get the blame for this?

ESPN actively worked for a bunch of conference realignment and the dissolution to the PAC10 and neutering of the Big12.

I’m pretty libertarian but they’ve gone beyond monopoly territory.

Im shocked their athletic department was fine with leaving like 8-9 million on the table That is the payoff for their likely bowl

Nowhere close to that amount after expenses and other things. It is usually a net 0 thing for a bowl if it doesn’t actually end up costing them money.
