Ok then let's say he is just as valuable as a coach on gameplanning calling plays and half time adjustments.
Still not even close. Disecting an offensive game plan is way more complex then giving advice on what club to hit when 95% of the time the golfer already knows the answer.

And he paid for it. The caddie did just what you say caddies are suppose to do, and he stunk it up this weekend.
FTR, Tiger was stinking it up with Williams as his caddie before his last leave of absence.

He had been stinking it up WITH Stevie for the last what 18 months?
Trying to use Tigers performance this pst weekend as evidence of Stevies caddy greatness is stupid

They said on a golf channel that a caddie can make a huge difference one shot a round. Think about what 4 shots mean in a PGA tournament. Rememeber when Phil Mickleson lent Bones to John Daily for a tournament?
If a caddy has that much of an effect on the golfer, then Steve Williams quit doing his job 54 holes into the 2009 PGA Championship. Tiger Woods lost a 54-hole lead in a major for the first time in his career. I don't believe Tiger's won a tournament since then.

This is like saying what good is Nick Saban because he doesn't make a tackle.
Wow, what? Some of y'all are hilarious.
I won't sit here and say that caddies can't make a difference, but to compare it to a football coach..a caddy is like a person standing next to Saban saying "yes, coach, running it here is good" after the running play has already been called. So maybe once a game, him saying "I dunno, coach, might wanna run right instead of left" makes a difference.

You obviously have no clue about the game of golf.
To quote someone famous. Golf is played on a straight line 6 inches long between your left and right ear.
And for the
Money they make and with your obvious skills I say become a pro caddy tomorrow.

And to answer this so does a quarterback. I guess what you are saying is that caddying for a great player is like play-calling for Payton manning?

He is the players coach during the match.
So not the case. Will he offer an opinion? If he has that kind of relationship with the player, and the player asks him for his opinion. But the player has a coach. And it's definitely not his caddie.

So how many less major wins does Tiger have if Stevie was never his caddy?
What percentage of Adam Scotts win do u attribute to Williams? Is Scott going to win multiple majors now?

Caddies effect on the outcome are minimal at best.
So... Do you know anything about golf? Or do you just like starting threads to vent about things you don't know about?

I would be willing that the high majority of the caddies got their start bc they were buddies with a PGA tour player. Its not like PGA guys go looking through all the country clubs looking for the next up and coming caddie. Come on people!

A caddys job is to shut up and carry the bag. If AND ONLY IF your golfer asks you a question do you give an opinion. Most of the time, just a yardage. No caddy in the world gives his opinion without being asked. The job is totally over-rated.
a. Do the work, know the yardages and greens.
b. When your golfer makes a decision back him up, positive feedback.
Thats about it!
All of this is pretty much 100% wrong. Keep up the good work.

Care to give a % of how much effect a caddy has on who wins a PGA event?

Then explain a caddy's job please..
All people are saying is "you're wrong" or "you've never played golf at a high level." Nobody has actually explained anything useful.

For a mental midgit like Dustin Johnson - I'd say 10% of his game is about having someone to keep him under control and help him manage the course.
For a mild-mannered vet - Very minimal.

I want to know what high level of golf these people played at that makes them experts. From the way some have talked it up I'll be disappointed with anything less than PGA tour
