To non golfers. Here is my long rant on why I cant stand Tiger (this was before the whores.) Before his indiscretions he was still a disgrace to the game. Throwing clubs cussing loudly after missing his mark by 2 feet. All around acting like a spoiled entitled brat. The guy had the most talent around but he was the antithesis of golf. You are supposed to act like a gentleman on the course, at least in public. Tiger was the opposite of that. Honestly the public should have figured him out sooner. We were supposed to think that the guy who was the worst at letting his emotions get to him on the court was the ultimate pr nice guy robot off of it?

tiger is the only one who gets pissed on tour? cusses? throws clubs?

my rant: go to a live PGA event and hopefully then you will be able to gain a little better perspective on the frustrations faced by not only tiger but other pro golfers as well.

Media has changed, but more to the point...

Arnie didn't market himself as perfection on and off the course like Woods clearly did. This marketing started even before Woods turned pro.

His father called him the one that would change the world for the better and do more good for humanity than anybody in history. Tiger clearly embraced what his dad was selling...thus Tiger's transgressions are newsworthy since it contradicts what he was selling to people.

that still doesn't change the fact that he should act like a professional on the course instead of throwing his club on the ground and cursing. Golf is a gentleman's sport where you should carry yourself in a professional way.

So you've never said "Aw shite" when you 3 jacked it from 10 feet? Never pounded the PW in the turf when you cold shanked a 30 yard pitch?

do people really think tiger is just one a select few who gets mad and curses on the course?

I never said that. He can say whatever the hell he wants but the tradition of golf is you have to at least present yourself as a gentleman. He can say shite arse damn under his breath or to his caddy as hes walking down the course but on the first tee you hit it on the rough on the US Open and you let out a huge MFer while letting your club slam into the ground after you swing that is the antithesis of golf.

The point is he needed to know that as the best player in the game he is an ambassador for the sport and golf is a sport of etiquette and tradition.

Am I playing at Augusta? You can't compare playing with friends with playing in a tournament.

Why not? You come across as hypocritical for belittling Tiger for the same things you might do in your $2 Nassau's.

If I was playing in a tourney I would carry myself differently then if I was playing with my friends. It's an honor to be playing in a tournament like the masters and you should conduct yourself accordingly.

I agree!! He needs to realize he is just like the other Golfers. Show RESPECT FOR the GAME that got you what YOU HAVE. Other golfers would give their right arm to have had the endorsements he had.

I don't throw objects when I get mad. Of course I curse when around friends but If I'm playing with someone I don't know to well I keep my emotions in check

I agree. I would like to see ALL golfers behave admirably between the ropes. But 4 letter words and pounding/throwing clubs has always been and will always be part of the game. Ever hear of Terrible Tommy Bolt?

I did some TV work inside for the ropes for CBS, ABC, & NBC in the 90s and early 2000s. You would be amazed and shocked at some of the stuff you see and hear that doesn't make it on air or in print.

I agree with what you said before. Tiger just gets caught all the time cause the camera is ALWAYS on him.

I can't think of Tommy Bolt off the top of my head but I know golfers will always curse etc. It just seems Tiger doesn't even try to keep his emotions in check. I've been to the Houston open a few times and haven't seen too much cursing. Tiger never plays there so I've never seen Tiger play live but the way he is portrayed on tv is that when he's doing bad he can't keep his emotions in check

Tommy was probably before your time. 4 letter words & tossing clubs got him the nickname Terrible Tommy
