Apparently I need to spell it out to you.

The pro golf swing is an incredibly complicated movement of basically your entire body, one which requires excellent flexibility. On top of that, training your muscles to repeat this series of movements over and over and over is no small task. It requires being in shape, just not the kind of in shape you are thinking of.

The same thing can be said for professional pitching and hitting in baseball, as well as many other movements for other sports.

All of this is easily gathered from my posts.

Of course they could. I'm no athlete, and I can go out and play soccer at the Parade Grounds for 1.5 hours whenever I feel like it.

Do you guys really think these guys just sit around and do nothing and perform at these levels? It's pretty comical.

meh, I'm not talking about just jogging around the parade grounds and kicking the ball around. I'm talking about having one of these extremely obese dudes get on a treadmill for 40 mins at either a high incline fast walk or flat slow jog without them huffing and puffing like there is no tomorrow.

Take your bullshite elsewhere. You're wrong, and so you're deflecting to personal insults.

If it's so easy, let's see your golf swing and pitching motion.

It's not a bunch of stoners out there. Mostly ex high school players and foreigners. Not exactly just jogging around kicking a ball.

Considering that would make anyone huff and puff, I think you should maybe find a different criteria.

you know full well what I was talking about. I'd be willing to bet there is no way in hell Daily or half those pitchers is able to complete 40 mins of inclined walking on a treadmill at 3.5-4 mph.

Just because they have developed a high level sports specific skill doesn't mean their heart/lungs are any stronger than the next lardass.

The whole fricking point is that there are different types of being in shape. How are you not getting that?

There are many people that you would consider to be in good shape that do not possess the flexibility and coordination necessary for a pro level golf swing. Does that make them out of shape since they can't do it?

I'd be willing to bet you're wrong for any of the pitchers, Daly I'd believe

Dude, you obviously have a very specific criteria for what you think an athlete is. There is no point in continuing this.

what you are saying has to do more with being athletic than it does being in shape

I'd call the coordination skill. I wouldn't refer to that as being in "shape". Again...I'd think most people would associate being in shape with overall fitness...something that will actually have a positive impact on your health/body.

I bet your body is not in shape to have a pro level swing in any kind of sport. How about that?

How many people do you know that are truly out of shape, don't exercise etc, yet have very good flexibility?+

i would beg to differ, but if that makes you feel better about yourself and the "shape" you are in, have at it

I've had plenty of patients who have good flexibility in large part due to hyper mobile joints.
Remember all flexibility isn't necessarily good. Joints compensate/become hyper mobile from relentless repetition over many years. Why do you think so many of these guys have wear and tear on their backs at relatively young ages.

If these guys continue to throw/swing from a young age, of course they will have the mobility to do it. Doesn't mean they aren't going to get diabetes, neuropathy, hypertension, etc like other fat guys do though.
