And of course, “literally” is also my least favorite.

It's up there with "ironic."

"Tom Brady literally carried his team on his back."

This is what happens when you hire ex-jocks to be sportscasters.

“West Coast Offense”

First, it originated in Cincinnati.

Second, it involves short, high percentage passes and incorporating RBs in the passing game.

At some point, it became any offense that passes more than it runs. The Raiders would throw a bomb every 4th play and the announcers called it “a variation of the West Coast offense.”

"This [team name] offense" or "This [team name] defense"

As in, "You've gotta figure yards are going to be tough to come by whenever you go up against this Alabama defense."

Or "Watch out because this Ole Miss offense can score from anywhere on the field."

Don't know why but that phrase drives me up the wall. Probably because Gary Danielson uses some version of it every other sentence.

“West Coast Offense”

Well they called it that because of Walsh of course because he became famous for glamorizing it with the 49ers.

But yeah, Paul Brown.

Actually, the real West Coast offense was bombing away.

The Raiders and Chargers...in the 60's, 70's and 80's.
