RBI and Runs is a terrible way to judge a players worth. Both insanely dependant on teammates.

However, runs scored is a great way to judge teams. We should rank offenses not by batting average but by runs scored.

That is correct
But a player like Jacoby Ellsburry that gets on, steals 2nd, then scores on a base hit is just as valuable to his team as the guy that hit the ball.

How so? I mean, I understand that there is a good argument that it is an over rated stat to use when evaluating a hitter, but the stat is perfectly logical IMO.Back to top
