Wasn’t part of the rule to identify or elevate the black coaches who were seen as the best of the blacks? Like okay maybe there was no chance Coach McAfricanAmerican is going to get THIS job but now he is more viable for a job down the road because he was annointed best among blacks.
So it served that purpose.
I hate it and want it to go away ans think Flores is full of dog shite, though.

Everyone associates the Chiefs success with Reid, not Bienemy. Eventually he will get his chance but he may have to prove himself without fat Andy at some point.

Still feel like unless you have more black guys making their way up the offensive coaching pecking orders the numbers will remain low. That pool is where most of the non retreads seem to be coming from.
I’d love to see a big spreadsheet of all the entry level coaches broken down by race and what position they played, how much money they made in the league, and overall success of playing careers.
I wonder if more white guys just realize earlier that they simply aren’t going to cut it as players and start the transition process to coaching at a younger age.

Revise it.
No head coach, offensive and defensive coordinators, position coaches, etc. can be anything other than black.
Blacks are overwhelmingly the best athletes, so the best athletes should be coached by black coaches. Exclusively.
Whites, Hispanics, Jews, Muslims, can be water boys, towel boys, equipment managers, locker room attendants, etc. Any menial job.
The important jobs: blacks only.

2021 NFL season had 3 black head coaches, 7 black OCs, 12 black DCs, and 8 black special teams coordinators. There are also 4 black QB coaches.
Of course not all coordinators will become head coaches. But last year there were 33 OC, 33 DC, 32 SC (two teams had either had either a co-OC or a co-DC). So out of those 98 positions... 22 were black... exactly 25%. It would seem to me that eventually, 25% of HCs thus might be black, or 8 of them.

I’m not saying the Rooney rule as it is written now is the answer, but the fact that there were only 8 minority head coaches in NFL history prior to it is pretty nuts
Why??

Maybe give more of an incentive to hire minority coaches? Give these owners a carrot on a stick, like increasing the salary cap or more chances to host the Super Bowl. You can't really tell a private business how to spend its money, so forcing the top jobs to go to minorities with a percentage rule or something similar wouldn't hold water.

Just don't say you're hiring the best candidate if a guy with no experience is on the cusp of being hired
Experience does not necessarily make someone a better candidate.
Hell, tired retreads with “experience” is a huge problem in the coaching world.

Maybe the teams should interview for every position on the field based on the percentage of population in the US.
I mean it's only fair.

Meh. I'm not sure every owner has the same desire to win.
You think Snyder wants to win at all costs? Or does he want to make the most money?

DeMaco Ryans and Aaron Glen are probably not ready to be a HC, but they are close.
Demaco was my favorite Texans player the few years i tried to care about the team. Basically the Ryans to Jungleboi swagger period of the Texans.
It makes me feel old that he is about to become a head coach, dude was a stud
