Houston have been elite the past two years compared to players on the sub-50 win teams who people try to give mvp to based off their teams being bad without him. Newsflash. Even with those guys you weren’t shite. Reward excellence. Not mediocrity.

Who would you take in a 7 game series? Toronto or Houston?

Rockets are still definitely better than Toronto, Toronto might even lose their 1st round series.

I would say the MVP should never come off a team who can’t even win 50.

Why is that so important??? The year GS set the record for wins in the reg season that meant nothing com playoff time..... the regular season has basically zero meaning except for stat lovers....

Instead of playing the hypothetical they would be bad without him. But they are only merely average with him.

You're really making my point with all the stuff you posted about Gobert and Embiid and how good that defense is with them on the floor and how average they are-and that's what they are AVERAGE-without them because there's still some defensive talent on that team, yes the Pelicans defense this season is average with AD but when you dig deeper they have the 29th ranked defensive rating in basketball when he sits at 110, when he's on the court their defensive rating is 104. Since the New Year started, they've had the 9th-10th best defensive rating in basketball compared to the 25th best to start the year, that's the proven difference AD makes because that team obviously lacks defensive talent outside of only 1-2 teammates we have to be mindful of context and who comprises these teams before we make sweeping judgments on how good a defender a player is compared to his contemporaries. All I'm saying and I have no problem if he finishes 3rd in DPOY though I think he should get more credit for his availability though but greatness is rewarded in this league so...

So Harden being top 15 is more important than winning titles??????

How about we reward someone for taking a team from average to great. More than rewarding someone for taking a team from bad to average. let’s reward greatness. Not being average. Pels D is average. Cavs this year - barely above average. Okc last year - barely above average.

No but there only so much you can do legacy wise in reg season.

MVP
First team all nba
Leading team to #1 offense all time prior to clinching one seed.

Stuff like that.

That matters VERY LITTLE without a title... You have said it yourself.. Lets reward EXCELLENCE.... The Rockets NOY winning A Title means the reg season means nothing..............

I mean in the end it's ultimately an individual player award and all 3 have been spectacular from a defensive perspective, I totally get where you're coming from with Gobert and Embiid because their on-off court defense impact numbers are greater than AD's and there's a lot of offsetting elements to account for you really could make great DPOY arguments for all 3 IMO

Davis has 0 DPOY Argument. He just is not all that impactful. Sorry bro. His team D is middle of the pack. We don’t reward mediocrity.

Despite the stats that are in his favor and his paucity of surrounding competent defenders compared to who helps Embiid and Gobert? I mean hell the Pelicans and Jazz have identical W-L records

You. Got. Other. Players. Whose. Mere. Presence. On. D. Ensure. Elite. Team. Defense. Pels. Are average.
