He stated I played football and I played basketball at a D-1 level.

So that's more knowledge of how coaches are at that level and how to interact with player/students so I would consider myself more of an expert than him

I currently coach an AAU team and if I threw a ball at a players face and shoved them calling them homophobic slurs I would expect this type of reaction from the media

What if other basketball players and coaches had a different opinion? Is there really much of an expertise here?

Using hyperbole weakens your argument. It doesn't strengthen it.

I don't mind the story being reported. ESPN's shifting roles between journalism, advocates and supposed moral compass is the troubling part. They don't just report the story, they become a part of it.

ESPN was not going to stop until the coach was fired. ESPN didn't just report on this allegation, they made it headline news and prime talking point #1 for 12 hours until the guy was fired.

Great now ESPN has a 30-minute round table discussion on how terrible this was

Just trying to cover their arse for running with a story from a whistleblower

Again, it's about ownership. "In a story first reported on ESPN's 'Outside the Lines'........."

Wish he would have used the old man throwing wrenches in dodgeball.

I didn't read this thread. My guess is that it's full of internet thugs?
