So of course Aikman offended people when he said NFL should "take dresses off"

Anybody shocked? Twitter mob bat-signal activated.

Oh shite. Some angry people "took to Twitter" to complain. And you know they gave Aikman everyone's favorite Twitter admonishment and told him to "be better".

Dear Twitter mob: frick off. TIA.

My personal favorite:

Troy Aikman really needs to find a non-misogynistic way to critique the call besides “take the dresses off”.

And I say this as someone who heard this misogyny normalized by coaches as a kid & even participated myself. Way past time to end such sports talk.

Dude, shut the frick up and stop using big words trying to sound smart.

At least this guy's comments are getting blown up by people telling him how dumb this is.

I'm more outraged that someone actually responded that it was roughing. He obviously wears a dress

I mean it implies that wearing a dress makes you soft and weak. Perhaps we should reconsider our viewpoints on equating women with weakness.

Should there be any outrage or consequences, frick no, but it’s something to make you think

Why do the people that constantly “take to Twitter” to feign outrage always look the same? Balding with thin beards and Dahmer glasses must be their uniform.

What gets me is that it is reported as NEWS! That whole article I linked was by si.com and was just people's negative tweets about the comments. Nowhere to be found were the many tweets that basically said "who fricking cares"

You do know that men wear dresses also, and people of your ilk cry all the time in support of such men?

You are assuming I fit into a category that that is black or white, or red and blue. I assure you, individuals views are far more nuanced. But I’m wasting my time telling you that.

I’m also not saying I’m offended by what aikman said, I’m not. I’m only saying that some of our vernacular implies some things that we might should think about changing. No big deal if we don’t, but thinking about our words is a small way to spread goodness to one another. I say stuff everyday that I probably shouldn’t so I’m not taking some high and mighty stance on this, I’m just saying words carry power and it’s something to think about.

Or you can understand context. Yes, the NFL needs to take the dress off.

If that means let them review roughing the passer penalties I’m all for it!

Who really gives a shite what the people on Twitter think. It’s just a small group of people looking to virtue signal

Women are soft and weak. There's nothing wrong with that. If you think that's an insult, perhaps you're the actual sexist.

Let’s be real…the people that are upset with what he said don’t watch the NFL.
