If my team had a long time tradition like that, I'm not sure I be happy breaking it for one game. If they were going to start playing night games regularly, I could understand.

I'm not even a Michigan fan and I'm pumped for this game, so I bet Michigan fans are excited too.

No, they're playing their first night game at HOME.

The lighting isn't temporary. You think they installed them only to never use them again? Doubt it.

Why the hell didnt they install lights years ago? If nothing else, just to open up more options/timeslots for being on national tv....

I was totally floored when I heard this was their first. How is that even possible for the winningest program in history?

I lived in Michigan back in the 70s. I recall a Detroit sports writer saying something to the effect that Michigan will never install lights - that's only done at small southern schools.

I'm ready for this game. Going to be huge. Tons of people up here right now. Most likely will set a new attendance record.

There is a very simple reason for this. It's cold up north. Night games would cause people to freeze. Whereas in the south, night games are more optimal because the cooler nights are better than hot afternoons. Can you seriously picture a night game during November in Michigan?

Gotta change with the times. Multi million dollar TV deal and TV ratings rule the roost. People like seeing big time matchups at 7pm not when they are just waking up with a hangover. Big10 of all conferences is most reluctant for change in the name of tradition.

Doesn't seem to bother the half some dozen NFL teams that play up north in the cold.

shite like this amazes me. How on earth does a well respected school not understand the concept of primetime until now?
