TWC, Suddenlink, DTV, etc are constantly negotiating terms/implementations of new channels every single day. And I guarantee you we'll have at least 2-3 more big fish before 2016.
Until you see Time Warner pick up the NFL Network, you won't see them pick up the LHN.
After the fiasco with ESPN's last negotiations with those providers, you'll see them hit back a lot harder.

Recently, Comcast announced that their Comcast SportsNet channel will no longer carry any FSN programming.
That means that anyone who has Comcast won't be able to see a single Fox Sports Net College Football game (Big 12, PAC 12, OR CUSA).
damn that blows, then again comcast blows

As someone who has moved around a lot, I've had the following providers:
Comcast
Knology
Cox
Time Warner
AFN (unfortunately)
I've been most happy with Time Warner, especially after looking at the fine print of Dish, DirecTV, and UVerse.
The best selling point of TWC is that HD isn't an added surcharge (like it is with UVerse and Comcast) and that they don't jack the price up 150% like DirecTV does after 1 year.

1. Its television deal: The TV deal the Big 12 has is, by far, the WORST of all the BCS conferences. Not only that, but with Comcast no longer carrying FSN college football broadcasts, at least 50% of its conference games are no longer viewable by Comcast subscribers.
did you see the new Big 12 deal it is not even close to the worst
quote:
2. The Big 12 only has regional appeal. All but two schools generate minimal interest outside of their state and maybe 1 or 2 neighboring states. At least half of the conference doesn't even generate interest outside the COUNTY in which the school is located in.
adding WVU gives them a footprint in the DC area PA and OH the fan base is very spread out since no one stays and over half the students/ alumni are not from wv to start with.

Most of the DC area is Comcast, and they don't show FSN, so......
Going back to UVerse though, it said that it was U200 for Texas and U450 Nationwide. That means, for the 1 horn that claimed that it picked up 600,000 in Texas and 4 million nationwide, that you can take the 4 million and reduce it to the number that actually have the U450 package...which is probably about 300,000.

no its not
some fans are so rabid they would change their provider just to see their team
im from dc and people have been dropping comcast like flies esp in the suburbs where they have more options with DTV, Dish and Fios which is eating the dc area up

I know you're also in the military, so I'm not going to bash you, but I have to disagree with you on markets (based on my experience recruiting in Chicago and my MBA).
Pennsylvania's sports market, as it pertains to college sports is Big Ten for football (PSU) and Big East for basketball (Pitt). For basketball, the Big 12 has somewhat of a footprint there now with WVU, but PSU owns that state for football.
DC's sports market, as it pertains to college sports, is mostly Maryland, with some traces of Navy. That isn't going to change.
The biggest sports market in Pennsylvania is obviously...the Steelers, just as the biggest sports market in Washington is the pro sports base (Nationals recently, Redskins, and Capitals...doubt the Wizards get much play).

the Pittsburgh market is split b/w 3 schools

no way man sorry, take it from someone who spent 20+ years living there the dc area market esp with college football is one big cluster frick with no one dominating the area. VT,WVU,UVA,Penn State are all a bigger draw than Maryland football and Navy is backpag news

DC is a redskins town no matter what, but the mix of college fans is so diverse no one has a staple on the market not even the terps. DC is the largest WVU alumni chapter outside the state and im sure its the biggest VT one

Any additional channel that adds more football is a good thing, IMO.
Of course, my wife would disagree.

Just read that the LHN isn't the only thing screwing over Longhorn fans outside the state of Texas: Recently, Comcast announced that their Comcast SportsNet channel will no longer carry any FSN programming. lol wut? the truth isnt exactly what you make it out to be. Comcast will still carry the FSN channels. just in some regions the comcast sports network will not simulcast Fox sports content. IE Houston comcast peeps will still have FSN.

Since when has Comcast ever carried FSN outside of Texas?
They would typically broadcast FSN programming on their "Comcast SportsNet" channel, but they never actually carried "FoxSports Net".
If they did, then my channel guide from 2007-2009 (when I was stationed in Chicago) was lying to me, as is the channel guide of one of my buddies who is an instructor at the Naval Academy (who also has Comcast and who I went to visit 2 weeks ago).
If you reread what you quoted from me, you'll clearly see that you disregarded the "outside the state of Texas" part of my statement.

Ok. I'll concede that. In the largest cities, where there aren't FSN-local networks, however, Comcast doesn't carry them (NY, DC, Chicago, etc.).
