It immediately halts most rational discussion. It's a strong word that is all too often improperly used and overused.

Passion is the true enemy of reason and racism is as passionate a word as there is in our society today.

Racism absolutely exists but in its use in society today has been rendered a "cry wolf" slogan that is often dismissed by many due to the chronic misusage and overuse to where legitimate instances are lost among the all too many frivolous claims.

RC sadly has become a big part of that.
