That ump should issue a Mea Kulpa.

That's all I got.

Well, in this situation he is definitely Kulpable....

What is with the trend of officials making themselves the center of attention the last year or so.

Got to build the brand.

It really amazes me that MLB hasn't moved to auto balls and strikes yet.

I still don't understand how ESPN and MLB network have computer programs that can show me balls and strikes nearly in real time with pinpoint precision, yet baseball still relies on the antiquated use of people standing behind a catcher with an obstructed view.

Leave the field umps in place but automate the home plate umps.

Man, all those fans who paid to see the home plate ump got their money's worth.

This seems like throwing the baby out with the bath water.

How about just firing the ones who suck?
I don’t think we need a perfect strike zone or that baseball would certainly be a better game if you removed the human element in the strike zone.

Just punish the bad actors.

Even if the strike zone is called electronically, there would still be a need for a home plate ump to relay the info and make other calls.

Agreed. A robo ump won’t be calling plays at the plate.

Or catcher interference, or batter interference, or a balk, or time, or fair/foul on a ball that hits the batter, etc.

I know that. I think a personalized strike zone, as long as it’s consistent, adds to the game.
